    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I just bought this little guy from a friend of mine. I have never seen a cotton that looks like this. Just wanted to share.

thats awesome to hear. I've caught and seen gobs of cotton mouths over the years (about 50+ last summer alone), and I've never seen a "stripe" like that.

I've seen plenty of variable colors and a few odd banding patterns, but nothing like that.

Same here, Cottons are very common in SC and I have seen hundreds, but I havent seen one like this either. Its def a nice show piece and possibly a future breeding project.

my favorite "oddity" as far as cottonmouths go, was an EXTREMELY green individual that I found in Tuskegee National Forest. typical banded pattern but an amazingly strong olive color to it all.

I am curious as to what this guy is worth? I have talked to several people that are big into hots and weird stuff, but nobody has seen a cotton like this.
I have seen one or two of the greenish cottons and they are nice. I want an albino. lol

It's interesting as an oddity, but I doubt it's worth much more than a normal patterned cottonmouth. The odds are very good that it's developmentally striped and not genetically striped. It would take quite some time (probably 6 years minimally) to find out if the striping is genetic (and assuming that striping in this cottonmouth is a simple recessive trait as it is in corn snakes). There is always a person out there who is willing to drop good money for an odd looking animal, so I'd try other reptile sites and see what happens.

It is a nice looking cottonmouth. Ive seen some with stripes but the background color was so dark you would have never noticed it without looking hard. I say nice find.
