    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

My third printer has now crapped out on me. They all fail the same way. The roller feeder starts malfunctioning so the paper feeds crooked. Why can't they manufacture them either, so the single roller is right in the middle instead of the side so it's more likely to feed straight in, or make them with two rollers one on each side, instead of one off to the side? One of the printers I only spent like $40 on so I expected it to be a throw away, but not so soon. Figured you get what you pay for so I bought a "better" one for $80, same thing. The most recent was $180 (4 in 1;print, copy, scan, fax) same thing, and I'm not printing reams of stuff, this last one crapped out before I used up the original inks.

FYI they were all, lexmarks. I will NEVER buy a lexmark anything again. I've been looking for a new printer, but when I check them out they are all made the same way, with one roller off to the side, no matter which brand. So I'm leery of buying another friggin printer, just don't want to waste any more darn money. Aggravating. :hot:

Check your printer settings.
It sounds like you have the paper type set to rhombus instead of rectangle causing standard rectangular paper to feed crooked.
Optionally you can switch to rhombus paper which with that setting would feed straight. That creates a problem with filing however unless you buy new folders and filing cabinets to match the paper style. And forget trying to print a photo for framing, rhombus frames are almost impossible to find.

I don't even know what a rhombus setting is :rofl: . but it is set on "normal" , or glossy if I'm printing photos, and standard not landscape. Plus they always worked fine for a while then start "slipping" and feeding crooked, so I don't think it's due to any change in settings. Holding the paper while it feeds in sometimes works, but it's a hassle.

Ah well, I was just messing with you. It sounded good though. :D

I've had great service from my Epson R200. I converted it to a continous ink system. It does CD/DVD printing as well, and was reasonably priced. I think I gave $70 for it 2 or 3 years ago.
Epson replaced it with the R220 and I have been told that it's even better by a friend who has had both models.

I have the R320 and it is a great printer. It prints high quality photos and does well on the CD's. My only complaint would be that it is an ink hog but that was expected.

I have had nothing but Lexmarks and have gotten good service from them. My curent is the XS1100, 4in1 and it is about three years old now. Still kicking strong, save for inkers.

The difference between a $40 dollar and an $80 printer is next to nothing. Quality comes into the picture at around $200 minimum for ink jet printers. Anything less than that (and sometimes including that) is disposable.

If you use a lot of ink you might want to consider a continous ink system. They can save you a lot of money if you do a lot of printing.
I've been running one for about two years now and have easily saved $1000 compared to buying retail Epson ink.

Here is an example of what I'm talking about.
Ebay auction

I'm not recommending that particular one or even that seller, that's just the first auction I came to on the list.

Doh......I guess that's what I get for reading threads at two in the morning. :rofl: I'm just glad I didn't take the printer manual out and see if I could find that setting :ack2:

I'll check into those printers.
