In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Surgery

👍Glad you're doing better, Joe; sounds like it was an incredibly painful procedure. Makes my spinal fusion sound like a hangnail removal, lol!

Spinal fusion doesn't sound like a walk in the park! I have to admit when I woke up at 3 am that first morning after surgery I was OMG what did I do? Everything was on fire including hair and toenails.

Nurse came in and said how much pain? I said I'm not sure but I never in my life been in this much pain. She said hold on for 20 more min's.

She came in and put a shot of something in my IV. I just remember thinking, Lucy in The Sky with Diamonds and bless you before conking back out, lol. I can see why people get addicted!

Doing very good. Yesterday I had painful rib that was not part of surgery. I went to bed and stretched to take pressure off and got up this morning with no pain! Must have gotten locked up and stretching undid it. Not even sore!

Thankfully pain doesn't leave real vivid memories of the actual feeling.

Glad to see things are progressing with your healing. Soon you will be better than new.

Well can sneeze without feeling like I got shot in chest. Hurts but manageable. Scar tissue still a little aggravating. Have driven a few times now but keep small pillow between chest and seatbelt. Took my 90 pound boxer for a few walks. He seems to know to take it easy. Walking about 5 miles a day depending on heat. I have noticed I don't sweat as much now. ETA for going back to work is August 1 to 15. Work is giving me comp time because I get called on maintenance issues several times a week. Even my snakes seem to know I'm not 100%. They all took food gently today. Even my golden child retic with neurological problems that only shows at feeding and aim is way off, lol.

Yeah, sounding real good Joe. And good that the animals know to go easy on you too. Lucky that they aren't taking advantage of the situation to give you a hard time. Animals can be brats too.

Figured I would come back and read this thread just to see how much of a weenie I am after only having heart stents inserted. I got off REALLY lucky from my heart attack! What I went through was pretty light weight in the surgery category, but my cardiologist is pretty much recommending that I stay inactive for about the same length of time that you were out of order from your surgery. I would have likely been out for at least a year if I had gone through your surgery. And I would have rather cut off my nose than to sneeze!

Just can't imagine going through what you did, Joe. Opening the chest up like a big clam shell and having doctors all rooting around in there. Makes me really cringe just thinking about it.

Hope you are fully recovered now. And all of this you went through is only just like some bad nightmare when it comes to mind.

In near future it will be standard to repair heart going through artery in groin. Cleveland Clinic does it now but only select patients - ie rich or would not survive open chest.

I think the worst part of it now is I am scared I will injure chest. My work is physical and I have pretty much said I'm not moving heavy stuff. I feel chest tighten and I back off. I'd probably be fine but I do not want to go through that pain again. Luckily there are a lot of 20 and 30 somethings at work and my boss gets them to do heavy moving.

For the first 2 weeks a sneeze coming on would induce panic. You can only hold a sneeze back so much and it was brutal. Coughing hurt but can control it some. It was the most painful thing I went through but they kept me pretty doped up first 4 days which helped.

Thanks for the words Rich and keep getting better!.

Yeah, they talked about going through the groin to place my stents and that thought gave me the willies too. Luckily they were able to go through an artery in my right wrist both times. With that groin artery, they warned that if that were to be the choice of entry, I would have to be immobile for a good 24 hours. If that artery were to blow out, it would be a good chance I would bleed out before anything could be done about it.

So yeah, this heart stuff is some serious business.

And honestly, how someone could thread a needle through my artery network to get to my heart to place those stents seems pretty much like magic to me. And I will take that any day of the week over having my chest opened up like what you went through.

Leave the heavy stuff for the young guys. If they rib you about it, so what? You earned not doing the grunt work any longer and have the "badges" to prove it.
