    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

I adopted a couple of sick Emeralds about 6 months ago. They have been doing great. I admit I did not do my homework on the probability of having babies! I really did not expect it. I also have been very maxed busy, and moving and family issues etc.. so I'm not at all prepared for the surprise I just saw running around in the Swift cage! The baby is about an inch long, maybe 5/8........approx. JUST about a quarter inch across its head, And thinning/tapering down toward the tail. It does not look fat or too skinny i don't think? I would like to see a rounder belly. . I see no serious emaciation around the tail base or any where else. Its brownish w/ the slightest hint of green. The pattern is still just a hint also . but I have never seen what they should look like. Upon closer inspection I see a body of a similarly sized one that didn't make it partially hidden under the momma's cave. I have only seen one so far I think.
I looked around ever so briefly on the Internet before getting on fauna. I didn't have much luck finding what seemed like good info. So if somebody has some expertise w/ Emerald Swifts I Would really love some experienced advice.
I plan on getting some wingless fruits tomorrow. And hopefully some small calci worms. Which I'm wondering if those are the same as the phoenix worms? I also ran across very vague comments alluding to separation of the babies from the adults? I have noticed in even this short time that the mother is never too far from the baby. Always in her view. My temp gun got ruined by the rats so will be ordering another to get a better idea whats going on w/ temps in this new house. They were in a temporary 10 gal. tank because we were moving. Now I don't know if I should change over to the big tank yet or not? I would like to know approx. how large they are when they are born? IE: I Wonder how old they are now? I gave them extra moisture since seeing the baby. I can't check the temps until tomorrow night at least. I know they have probably been on the higher side for their spectrum. they have a heat light and 'sun' light. Before we moved they always had a heat mat ...under tank on 1/3 of one end of the aquarium. Its not there now. But it was partially because it was winter when we got them and the basement at the old house was cold. This one is way more temp controlled and insulated etc. But it does stay comfortably cool w/ air cond. So other then small baby food what other changes do I need to make to try to help the maybe last baby live! OK Have to go to bed ! Thank You!! G.....

First, if you have been able to help sick emeralds and kept them for more than 6 months, I have to hand it to you, they are not always easy to keep. It is a good idea to pull the baby out and put it in another tank. At that size, a hungry adult will eat it. I would keep the baby the same way as adults, a variety of food as you have found is good.

My experience on emeralds is not a lot, but if you can revive adults, I am confident you can raise the baby also. Good luck!

Looked closer and there are 3 babies. That was the smallest one that I saw first. The biggest is a tad over an inch long.
Got some of the wingless fruit flies and smaller worms. The babies didn't seem interested.
According to the couple things we could find I guess we tend to over feed our Swifts. We feed them every day or two, and most of the stuff we read says twice a week. Maybe that why mom and dad aren't eating the babies... they are well fed.
Don't have the light set up at the moment to switch them to their own cage. Will work on that... and try to make sure every one eats only bugs!
Any more advice would be great. Someone has to be breeding these guys or pet stores and Kingsnake wouldn't have them for sale. Love to hear from people w/ experience.
Thanks again.

Man I hope the babies don't get eaten! Tell us how they're doing.
