    =====================

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. don't shoot the messenger!

lol I already searched I'm aware of the past..but I'm looking for people that have actually dealt with him business wise. I'm not saying rich doesn't count I'm just more interested in what they say about his animals and how he handles himself.

I have done some business with nate and he seems to really take care of his stuff. I havnt had any problems with him as a buyer or seller. the only amphibians I have gotten from him were tomato frogs and they were really nice and healthy. I have gotten tegus and turltes from him and they were also nice. I would say he is a good guy.

He sold me two desert collareds that he claimed were in perfect condition. Both had multiple bites, and one was so gravid that she had needed to lay well prior to being shipped. She had a badly swollen foot, and had not been supplemented properly, and died less than 12 hours after arrival while trying to lay poorly formed eggs. I contacted Nate, who dragged his feet about a refund until I threatened to bring the issue here. I did get a refund, so make what you will of that. The conversation in question took place over the phone, so I have no hard proof.

If you look closely at the pics in his ads, you will see some animals that "look" okay, but you will also see emaciated, dehydrated animals and severely overcrowded bins. I will never buy from him again.

Here is a pick of the gravid female with the bad foot shortly after she arrived. I am a rehabber, so I know that that foot had to have been injured for at least a few days prior to shipping for it to be that swollen.

Over the 6 months I have dealt with Nate a few times ( selling to and buying from)

The selling went flawless. He sent the labels I met up with the driving and did not have to really do a whole lot of anything.

As for buying,
I purchased a small group of WC Milos, WC expectata and some Pictus reed frogs recently. He was very patient with me taking my time making up my mind. He was very patient with me sending him part of the money one week and the rest the following week. He is quick to answer emails and sent me pics of the frogs I was ordering. The frogs arrived flawlessly. The heat pack was still warm. They were packed great and every one ate within 24 hours of being at my house.

I will not hesistate to buy from him again. I think he is a good guy.

You "met up with the driving" ?

You are in WV and he is in Washington state. You drove across the country to buy/sell some frogs?

Sorry I met up with the driver ( of the shipper) and dropped off the prepaid package.

It was much easier for me then trying to get off work in time to get home, pack the frogs, get to the shipping place. What I was trying to convey is the transaction when very smooth.

Long time lurker here. I have dealt with Nate at Swanee's quite a few times and find him excellent to purchase from all around. He is VERY quick in his responses, honest and I find his animals in top condition. I honestly wish there were more like him in the business. The one time that the frogs I ordered did not come in, he refunded my money within an hour of finding out.

I would not hesitate to order from him again and most certainly will. He is top notch in my book.

Over the last year I have had Many dealings with nate. Everything I have ordered or picked up (from his house) have been in the best condition I could have expected. I have recieved 3 Eastern box turtles 2 gulfcoast boxies 2 redfoots 2 marbled salamanders 3 RES hatchlings 1 sulcata tortoise just to give you an idea of what im talking about. His quick responce to e-mails boarders on superhuman. Everything I have recieved from him was at a GREAT price and all were healthy and eating well, packing has been top notch (even during the coldest time of year) I will continue to order from nate due to his outstanding customer service, prices and health of the animals. A++

Top Notch

I have been doing business with Nate for over a year and have found him to be honest and reliable. I will continue to do business with him and would recommend him to others as well.

I'm a Canadian... and had to deal with the issues of cross border transactions... and when I forgot some documentation, I had to drive back to meet up with him... and he waited around for my return trip to help me with the paperwork.

Nate was very fair in his sale of treefrogs to me. The frogs were very healthy and alert... and eventually bred on me. I'm not a breeder of frogs, but I love these animals.

I will continue to do business with him, as it's rare to find people who are honest and reliable.

Exactly my thoughts seth in fairness to Nate I already posted a BOI on him from my dealing

Seth, have you done any business with Nate to contribute to this thread other than to spam it? The author of the thread is asking for negative/positive feedback for someone who has had transactions with Swanee's Exotics...

Also, is it so wrong for a business person who has had satisfied customers to want the word to get around when he is being questioned? I would certainly hope any customers of yours that have had good experiences would do the same for you.

i registered on 3-14-09, not today. if there is any dispute as to my "Realness" you can e-mail me @ [email protected] I feel it is ridicolous to be snide about someone not wanting their name tarnished when they do good buisness......."fishy" that people Jump at the chance to defend one of their best dealers. This is just my opinion.

I can appreciate sethexotic's skepticism... it's a healthy query.

But I am a real customer (never met Nate until my frog transaction). I'm only piping up to voice my support because that's what this thread is all about. If I were pissed, say at you over a crummy transaction, I too would express my disgust.

Just as there are good business operations, there are also bad customers. I just don't think it's fair for a small biz guy to get a bad rap from one incident. It's important that happy customers show their support too. And here I am.

The mods on this forum can trace my IP address... they can verify for you that I'm not another forum user hiding under a fake name.

Same here, agreed.........:iagree:

I have several groups of frogs from Nate. They're all healthy and growing, and I'm getting more from him very soon. I plan on getting most of my future frogs from him.

My contribution to this thread can hardly be classified as spam. It is only logical that someone would question the validity of "good guy" reports that pertain directly to an individual who is banned from this forum for fraud and exploitation of native wildlife.

Had you read the original thread on Swanee's Exotics, you probably would share the same skepticism as I do....and I can guarantee you that I am not the only person who sees the red flags in this thread...

I joined a while ago if that means anything. I check the BOI daily and when I seen Nates name I wanted to post.

Some people do change for the better and I have read that other thread about Nate I was skeptical at first but after the first dealing with him I was happy to deal with him again. We talked for several week before the first deal was made and the quickness of the emails and manner of the emails made me give him a chance and I am happy that I did.
