In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hey guys. I've got a snow female that's about 3 months old and I've yet to get her on rats. As of now she'll only eat live mice. I don't like feeding live and it gets costly having to buy mice every week since I don't breed my own. I buy from rodentpro. I've tried live pinkie rats, F/T pinkies and fuzzies and she just won't take them. What's the best way to convert her to rats? Thanks in advance.

Zach

Just hold out for 5-6 weeks and intro a F/T rat prey,if they dont take it hold out for acouple more weeks and try again.
It gets hungry enough it will eat the F/T :yesnod:

Not sure what tricks you have tried. Is the snake's cage somewhere quiet and dark? Did you try leaving the live rat pink in overnight? Have you tried heating up the f/t rat pink? (Holding it up next to a lightbulb until it gets nice and toasty). You could try rubbing a live mouse on the f/t rat pink or roll the f/t rat pink in some dirty mouse bedding. Those are some tricks I have used. I also agree that waiting them out and just keep offering once every 5-7 days, some hold outs will eventually take it. Good luck!

With slightly warmer temps ~90, I've noticed my boas will eat more, and process it faster.

Time wise, I would wait a couple of days - not a week.

Maybe warming the F/T to ~90 (in a plastic bag and hot water?)

Tried feeding in the wee morning hours? (still dark)

"Days" mean nothing to a boa,a boa "day" is every bit a week in human time.
Attempting to feed every 2-3 days will stress an animal thats off feed or none responsive to prey switch.

Progress is needed,not compounded issues.

Snakes are the masters of patience.

Thanks for the responses guys. I asked a breeder today actually and he said to not feed for a month and she'll take it. He told me it will have her a month behind on growth obviously but she'll have time to make that size up. And just for extra info, yes I've tried heating up the rats to a very warm temp...nothing crazy but nice and warm and I've also left a rat pink in overnight and that didn't work either. I'll hold off for a little while and then try again. Thanks again for the help guys.
