    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Testing membership icons

Well, I just converted one of them over to a GIF file. Let's see what that one looks like.

AHA! i see NO background color on either Firefox or IE, here.
 
Nothing

No background on these or the earlier ones with Netscape. The colors on the medallions themselves look great however.

Still working on it. I may have TOO many levels. :>poke2<:

I'm trying to make it a reasonable spread of bells and whistles for the paying members without cutting off the free level at the knees. Heck, people are going to yelp no matter what I do, so I guess I shouldn't waste too much of my time on it. But there are a LOT of things in this message board that are optional that I have just given everyone for free right off of the bat rather then hold back on them. Maybe a mistake on my part in hindsight.....

So anyway, if something you used to be able to do suddenly goes away, then that means you now fall below one of the new lines I have drawn in the sand..... Sorry.... :duck01:

This should not be the case for anyone that is a Contributing Member, however.

I can truly understand that, But I really hope your not burning up gray matter and doing this all alone, :bandhead0 I hope there is someone helping to figure this all out No matter what you decide count me as 1 vote your doing the right thing :D

No, I don't have a staff. I have a guy who has volunteered to assist me with the graphics work (Troy Dozier), and another guy who does the programming background work. I'm the project manager. :nuts:

Figuring out the member levels is kind of complicated. Lots of options to make decisions on. Some decisions are going to be experimental, I suspect. Such as "Do I make the classified forums restricted to paying members to post ads in and leave the NEW classifieds section free to all users to help motivate people to move over there?"

I fully understand that the two highest member levels will basically be donations from people who just want to help out as much as they can, but I still want to be able to offer them something extra as consideration for their kindness. I guess I just want to have people feel they are getting something extra in return for their money. And it's just tough trying to figure out the best way to be as fair as I can to everyone.
 
When you implemented the new membership icons, they showed up along with the original icon for the first day or two. Since that's been fixed, I've noticed that a few people (myself included) have no icon at all anymore. Is this another bug or did I miss some important news?

Probably a bug. Some code is still being tested on the fly as this is being developed. Some sections cannot be tested behind the scenes because they require an actual PayPal payment before the code is triggered. Since I cannot PayPal from myself, to myself, this code can only be tested when a member actually pays a membership fee and we see whether it worked or not.

As to why you lost your icon, I don't really know. In the admin section I have the capability of setting any member's "member goup" to any one of the groups they may be a member of, which controls which icon is visibile. Yours was set to "default" which is a regular registered member. There may be others like this, but unless they notify me about losing their icon, I probably won't find out about it on my own.
