    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

Here's a BP I bought after a friend of mine found it in a pet shop. He passes the pet shop every day on his way to work and he asked me if I wanted him to pick it up for me. He said it was "reasonably priced":dgrin:and wouldn't tell me how much. So I told him to buy it.

It probed out female.

He paid the pet shop $25 for her. I didn't have any $5 bills when he brought her so I paid him $30 for her. What a steal! She eats rats like there is no tomorrow too.

These pictures are right after I took her out of the bag. I figured she wasn't very well taken care of because she had stuck on shed, which you can see in the pic, and I figured she wouldn't eat. But, to be that fat, she had to be eating something. LOL. The shop she was in is mainly a bird shop and sometimes they have snakes. They always sell the snakes for pennies (that's why my friend frequents this shop at least twice a week) and I'm guessing that they're getting them free.

Great find.
It was probably a turn in from an owner who got bored with it.
At least now it will have a good home.
Congrats.

Ahh the dreaded red Xs. I am sure she is beautiful though! Its always nice find a bargain like that!

The red Xs are probably because I had to edit it three times while trying to downsize the first picture. It came out HUGE.

She's beautiful (even with the stuck shed) and is definitely a chubbo! She seems pretty comfy in your hands too. Congrats on the find! :)

wow awesome find! :) boy do i ever wish there was a pet shop that sold decent herps close to me!

boy do I ever wish there was a petshop that sold big female balls feeding on rats close to me!
I work at a petstore, and the only time we saw big balls is when our supplier drags in his wc males, which we used to buy until someone cough *me* cough brought some sense into the fact that wc's are no thing to be sold to the general, unexperianced public. Especially not wc adult balls.

We get our fair share of WC balls. We acclimate them and then only sell them after they are eating reliably. Only a few of them that we have dealt with in the last 5 years have taken 6 months or longer to get feeding. Most take at least 4-8 weeks. We haven't had any to die yet. (knock on wood)

When we get them they had mites, ticks, usually a URI, or something of that nature, stomatis. Any combination of the aforementioned. So, I tried my darndest to educate them on why we shouldnt just clean up them externally and sell. If they come in like that, they must have some kind of internal things going on...
It just wasn't worth the time or the effort. Bought em cheap, sold em cheap, and not so surprisingly I've never seen one return to the store... Most customers will bring back the snakes to show us. People bringing in 7ft boas, and big adult balls, and adult corns and whatnot, but I've never seen a wc ball return to the store with a "look at him now" kind of attitude attached...

The WC ones we get usually have ticks, that's a given. But mites, mouth rot, RI, those animals have been around awhile. Your supplier is sending you bottom of the barrel animals that he has had around for months w/o taking care of them.

There is one supplier that we will not do business with again because of that. He did this to us twice, sending us dead animals (they didn't die overnight either), animals missing limbs, etc. and we stoped ordering from him. But since then we have barely had a problem.

This year we have bred some and bought more CBB balls than in any year previous. You can get feeding baby CBB balls from some breeders for $25-$30 if you buy in quantity.

Return on your money!

You know, It's not every day you can make a 100% return on your money very quickly, so I'm going to make your day! I'll buy her off you for $60 if you'd like! I'm that willing to help out a fellow herper!

I got myself a cheap find of the day.
3+ft, 850 gram CBB female ball. Ate a f/t rat for me first night I had her, even though the seller said it is a sporadic eater that never ate anything besides live rats... I just left the rat in the tank, on top of the hide box (she never spends time inside, so i figured Id leave it out where she would see it), and sure enough, 15 mins later it's gone.
She'll be breeding size in no time!

Make sure you watch her closely.....some things are too good to be true man! I bought my female a month ago up here in northern Canada for almost six hundred dollars plus supplies. She is beautiful and big and fat, but she presents now with mites, retained eye caps, constipation and potential blindness. I have to spend more money on her now. Petland doesn't know reptiles from their arseholes. I know more about them than they do and I just strarted having snakes 7 months ago. Her stuck shed means that she wasn't kept in the proper conditions. therefore whoever was caring for her didn't know that this was important. they probably didn't know much else. I would quarantine her for at least six months before you do any introducing to other snakes. make sure you wash with alcohol gel or good antibacterial soap after handling her each time.

:)

I noticed the date too....curious how the female did last season!
