The *HELL* Forum changeover

keep it strictly isolated from the rest of this site. NO one can even view it without specifically and purposely wanting to.

Just to point out a teensy fly in the ointment; if you have subscribed to a thread in **HELL**, you can still read the posts in the e-mail notification if you have your account set up for it. Didn't realize it till tonight, sorry Rich. You can't "go" to the forum, but you can still follow the conversations in your e-mail, although now that I think about it, I'm not sure for how long.

**HELL** was a nice little valve for letting off steam and poking through the trashcan, but I'm not going to pay for membership there. I can probably find excellent stuff in real dumpsters if I am inclined to sift through rubbish. To me it's just not worth it as it costs the same as a base membership for the entire site, save that one forum.

I can still read everyone's posts in other venues!

Yeah there are some threads in there that I really should have viewable to the general membership, but I had to make that sacrifice, and did so.

To be perfectly honest I never made any use out of the Hell forum. I can probably count with the fingers in both hands the times I visited that forum, in fact I believe I never made even one single post in there. There's more good that can be done elsewhere in this site.

Interesting about the subscribed threads "bug". I didn't realize that. I guess I could get my programmer to fix it, but it's not that big of an issue with me. Bear in mind, however, that I have disabled the automated profanity blocker on this site, so you may get some very *colorful* language in those messages. The reason I disabled it was because there really was no way for me to be able to tell if someone had actually used profanity outside of the HELL forum and the automated script blocked it with asterisks, or someone actually used asterisks themselves in a post. So it was possible that myself or the moderators could make a mistake in this way and fine and suspend a member for a post where it really wasn't warranted.

But in any event, if some people who are subscribed to those threads finds the language offensive, you do have the capability of unsubscribing from those threads if you wish.

As mentioned before, it really doesn't matter to me at all if anyone utilizes the HELL forum or not. At the very least, it will now exist for at least a year. When membership renewal rolls around next year and I find that no one renews, then that forum will get the axe and good riddance as far as I am concerned. Some people wanted it, and were willing to pay for it, so I am willing to give it a shot to see what happens. I wouldn't pay to access it either, but that's just the way I am.

I think everyone that joins it will renew next year!!!!! Besides its Unmoderated so you and the other MODS dont have to waste time there, and you can make a little profit from it with no over head because of it. It a win/win situation. The other plus is you have made a lot of members happy by keeping it, and no one can be mad because its still here because now they cant even view it.

Some people wanted it, and were willing to pay for it, so I am willing to give it a shot to see what happens. .

And I think you should agree that it is starting to pay off decent dividends.

Why not, everyone needs to let thier hair down sometimes and have fun.
