• Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    Addendum: 01/10/2026
    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

This really grinds my bones

Why is it people can not finish something. what i mean is someone responded to my trade ad and made kind of an offer of what he has to trade. Well i write back asking a few questions on sizes and such and no responce at all. so after a day i sent another PM on here and still no responce even though the individual has been on a few times. I dont mind if he doesnt want to trade but at least let some one know and not leave them hanging. I for one will always get back to a person whether im interested or not. Not much gets under my skin like that.

Yeah, in a perfect world, that's how everyone would do it. Sadly, that's rarely how it goes. Once a potential buyer/seller drops contact with me, they pretty much cease to exist. I don't waste too much time trying to chase them around. I just make a mental note of who did it, for future use.

:iagree:
seriously though.
If you are backing out at least have the decency to let the person know. You don't even have to have a good reason to back out, people are allowed to change their minds, but let the person know.
It is just common courtesy, something people seem to lack these days.

That is so true, people seem to lack common courtesy nowadays. I understand things come up but at least take 2 seconds to say your not interested. This is one reason why I barely advertise things or l

Oops messed upas I was saying I don't like to advertise or buy online very much. I do keep a note of who does stuff like this. All I'm saying I guess is, is it to much for people to show a bit of common courtesy

Same reason buyers ask a ton of questions, want updated weights and pictures and all that and then after you spend a couple hours gathering it for them you never hear from them again. :shrug01:

This, pretty much.

Oh I understand both sides do it. Still doesn't make it right. A little common courtesy on both sides would go along way make this hobbie more pleasant.

Oh I totally understand what you're saying.

Once you get to looking around, you realize that "nice" has gone out the window and no one gives a rat's hairy behind about anyone other than themselves and what goes on in their little world bubble.

I have to say that I have been guilty of this, simply because they send me a picture and the snake is horribly ugly. To me, it seems much nicer to just end the correspondence than to say 'sorry, but that snake is really bad quality, I'm no longer interested'.

As far as just ending communication for no reason, however, I can't say there is any real justification.

I would rather someone tell me they are not interested or that it's not exactly what they are looking for, instead of just up and stop responding. I mean is it really hard to send a message saying no thanks.

I'm actually glad you posted this and I saw it because I took into consideration. I've been looking for a male spotnose but want one with a very 'stand-out' head marking. I feel bad asking half a dozen people for pictures when I know I only want one, but I have to find one that I actually like and that's the only way.

Normally if I wasn't interested I would just close the email and be done, but I thought about this post and have responded telling people that they don't have what I'm looking for. I think you're right, and that it is better than just leaving them hanging. If this post did nothing else, it converted one person.

Im glad that someone agrees with me. After spending time on this site and reading a lot of the BOI and seeing how some people act and how people dont have the common courtey to inform people if they are no longer interested has really turned me off from ever really buying online any type o f reptile. I know there are decent people out there and everything. I will always prefer face to face transaction even though it will limit me cinsiderably
