Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them.     Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Wheezing does not an RI make. Many things can cause this. I would not administer meds, until an RI is confirmed.

I can understand you asking more questions. But I would never give meds if I myself wasn't 100% sure they were needed. She had multiple signs pointing at an RI.

What do you mean by that? I know an RI when I see one. Yes, there are different types, some needing to be treated different than others. But over 75% of vets out there will prescribe some sort of anti-biotic 1st, then take cultures and re-evaluate if the symptoms continue. Am I wrong? Do you feel what I am doing is wrong?
 
A GOOD vet would never prescribe an AB without first doing a culture and sensitivity test, to make sure the AB is effective against whatever they culture. I'm sure some would gladly give you some if asked, I know some that will prescribe me whatever AB I ask for. But, I don't often accuse them of being a GOOD vet either. LOL

BTW, I wasn't doubting you, just saying, make sure. She is already in a somewhat weakened state from gestation.
 
She is doing MUCH better now. I know reptiles in generally tend to be slow to become sick and sometimes even slower to heal up, but she has amazed me these past few days. Absolutely no mucous build up in mouth or nose and her breathing seems to be doing much better. I did not give her another injection last night because of how much better she is doing.
 
You're asking for trouble by stopping before the cycle is complete. This is one way resistant strains of Bactria are created. FYI.

Glad to hear she's looking better though.
 
I agree 100% with Richard. While I'm glad your snake looks better, you could be creating a worse problem, as if she does get sick again those bacteria will now be resistant to the medication you used. If it spreads from your facility, that hurts other keepers as well. Please use the drugs to their full end.
 
chimes in late . . . . . solid answers have been given for future use and others before they sling dope at an issue without following reasonable protocols.

I am on the same page, completely aware of this. As I stated earlier I had planned on a 2-3 day schedule and it was recommended to give it to her daily for 3 days in a row. Now that I have seen a change in her I have backed it down. She received 3 injections in a row from 04/10 - 04/12, received 1 injection on 04/14 and will receive 1 tonight (04/16).

I have continued this every 2-3 day injection and she is showing lots of promise. I know time will tell, but I will keep everyone updated. Thanks again for everyone's help.
