    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Turtle community tank?

Hi everyone I'm new here.
I've had a bunch of different turtles for years now and have always kept them in species specific tanks. Could you make a community turtle tank? I would want to include my favorite types like soft shells, chicken turtles, painted turtles and musk. I also like snapping turtles but I know you can't mix them together. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
 
You can, yes, but community stuff for turtles is better achieved in a pond than a conventional tank. Space and varied niches can be key. Babies can be easy enough to mix in a tank if the needs of various types are met, but they grow up. Also, something like a soft shell turtle might be more likely to take snorkel and shell margin damage from crowding with another animal, same species or not.

I have done this in both tanks and ponds. You have to be ready to remove problematic individuals if they are or become behaviorally incompatible with their cagemates.
