In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Twins!

I TOLD YOU!!! ;)

Super hugs for Jaime and Amy :)

I wanna see them out.

Thanks Heather!! Pics coming this morning. The whole clutch is out but my fingers are still too tired for a photo shoot.

Looks like 1.3 normals and 0.2 Cinnies. The second twin out of the egg is tiny. 21 grams...

So, I ended up with 1.3 normals and 0.2 Cinnatwins. The Cinnies are 40 grams and 21 grams. The second one out was the tiny one and she really is TINY!

Here are a couple pics of the Cinnies and the whole clutch. Sorry for the crappy quality but we lost our good camera and need to get a new one. More pics to come after they shed.

Is there and update available for these 2? Did the lil one make it? Were they both the same sex? Are they average sizes nowadays, or is the lil one still much smaller than other same age balls?

I know its an old thread, but twin herps really intrigues me. :D

Well, I was lucky enough to acquire these two girls from Jamie, so I guess I'll give an update! Both girls are healthy and beautiful. One eats only rats, one eats only mice. The larger one at birth is now the smaller one (she's the mouser), which obviously means the smaller one at birth is now the larger one who eats rats. The larger one weighed about 600 grams at last weigh in, in September.

Here they are shortly after that, in October-ish.

Awesome thx so much for updating, the informtion u provided really helps in my non professional, curiosity driven research on twins in herps. THX MUCH!!!!

wow after looking at them the runt looks so much brighter than her once bigger twin! Im glad i just decided to switch mine aver to rats, got them thawing now hopefully theyll all take!

You're all more than welcome. Thanks for asking about them! I love getting a chance to talk about these little girls. They're both just so awesome.

It's not easy to see it in the pictures I take (I'm a horrible photographer) but they're completely different colors. One is more black, and the other is more dark brown. Their heads are also completely different colors, but both velvety looking.

Their personalities are also completely opposite, one being so shy we have to leave her food for her, the other being very outgoing (for lack of a better term), but both equally as sweet as the day is long.

Honestly, I have no clue how often twins occur, but I don't think it could be considered common. We used to breed bearded dragons, and I don't recall ever having twins. And this is our first year breeding ball pythons, so I guess we'll see!

Twinning in BPs is something I'd call "uncommon." It's not what I'd consider "rare," nor is it "common." From just listening/reading, it seems that a lot of breeders tend have a pair every few years or something like that (at the most). Depends on the size of the operation, of course, but for most middle-of-the-road breeders, it kinda makes sense.

I have absolutely no numbers to go with this, though! It would be really cool to see how many twins breeders have had with respect to the number of years they've been breeding...and/or with respect to the number of clutches they've had.
