    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

everybody that takes these outside photos of their snakes must have some wonderfully cooperative animals. I tried to take some photos for my website today...must have discarded at least 35 shots. between snakes moving, sun distorting colors, and everything else, I found it to be a frustrating experience at best. I tried several methods, including putting a box over them for a few minutes to position them. Nothing worked particularly well. I did end up with a few fairly good pics, but will probably redo everything another day. some of the halfway decent pics below.

I think the thing that frustrated me the most was the 2nd and 3rd pics. they are of 2 VERY different looking snakes. the first one has a very bright yellow pattern, with both bright and mustardy yellow scale spots. the second is all that darker, golden yellow. I think that I might see better results on a less bright day...but the forecast doesn't look too good for that anytime soon.

Thanks, Amanda. But keep in mind that those were the 4 that I salvaged from 65 shots of 8 animals. I can deal with that, but the fact that I can't seem to get photos that accurately represent the colors of my diamond intergrades really frustrates me. I just took the 2 females out and tried again in the shade with the same results. a few decent pics, but the colors are still way off. their yellows are very washed out.

One of the best times for outdoor photography is early morning. Mid-day lighting is too harsh and usually washes out the color.

Good luck and think about this. At least you aren't wasting a ton of film! I've done exactly that many, many times. Took an entire roll of 36 exposures to get one excellent picture and a bunch of blurry, turned heads, no head, etc. bad pics. But getting that one shot WAS worth it, though.

I've had the best luck outdoors on slightly overcast days where the clouds diffuse the sunlight nicely. Otherwise, early morning and late afternoon as has been stated already.

And yeah, the problem I generally have it getting the corn IN the picture. Grass is way out, mine instantly burrow beneath it. LOL
