I tend to believe Brandon (OP). I feel like I'm taking crazy pills with people posting about what FedEx does and does not do. Have you all not had FedEx screw up royally? I once had a package delivered behind the neighbor's fence in the woods, marked as delivered to my house and the delivery driver swore it made it to me. I found it two weeks later as a wet mess when I was out for a walk. The seller has to make the claim, initiate and follow through... you're frustratingly powerless as the buyer. That's what OP tried to get done, and you absolutely can file a claim on a live animal, if only to investigate it further than your basic level he said she said. I'd like to see the transcripts, but I take him at his word. If the seller offered a live arrival guarantee, the seller needs to get to the bottom of it, not act apathetic. If the chargeback goes through now, that will finally force the end of it, but it didn't have to go this way.
If we believe OP:
Seller has not maintained contact after the sale
Seller has not fulfilled duties in filing the FedEx claim
Seller has done very little to satisfy customer
To me that justifies posting a negative experience thread. OP is out a lot of money so I don't blame him for considering it a very negative experience
Not true. I contacted him within ten minutes of his claim that the animal was not delivered. I started a trace within 20 minutes. I contacted the third party shipper (SYR) within a few minutes of that.
I called Fed Ex no less than five times that day. I spoke with Brandon whatever your real last name is (I'll post the multiple alias later) that night. I felt really bad for Brandon.
What was telling is my main concern as soon as soon as I heard the animal was allegedly not received by him was the welfare of the animal, the FIRST thing he asked me is was the package insured to the point that I had to say "Woah, I need to make sure the animal is OK first, then we'll get to that." You remember that Brandon?
There is no insurance claim to file there NEVER was, the trace per Fed Ex showed the animal was delivered, the Fed Ex investigation concluded: Delivered (I spoke with domestic trace agent Raven and later spoke with the claims investigator Susan) they stated multiple times that I could not file a claim, I called FOR Brandon maybe four times as he was demanding I file a claim, I could not.
It without question got to the point of harassment, I spoke with him all the time, he would text me at 10pm or later etc.
I broke off contact when he launched the Paypal claim seeking a full refund on a package showing delivered and on time and declined the credit with me which I originally offered trying to be understanding of his alleged plight.
Make no mistake he was essentially looking for a full refund with no misdelivery proof, no DOA claim/photo and no investigation in his favor.
I sent the package no signature required specifically for the animals well being, he originally told me he was sleeping, so if he was sleeping when the delivery with sig required was made, what then? It's very hard to get them to turn around, anybody that ever sold a live animal knows this at it upper limit temps later that day, he requested it be shipped.
So am I guilty of not requiring a signature on my deliveries, especially to avoid these issues, maybe. I am strongly considering it, but know MAJOR breeders that do not require signatures and do business that way (last snake I received no signature required was from TSK)
IMO this is more of a seller beware post, think about it. Learn from my mistakes and watch out for who need to be watched out for.
Again though in closing there was never an insurance claim they denied me filing a claim multiple times I really want that straight.
