In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Vincent Vecci/Ultimate Reptiles...

Exactly

Darin,

I know you're responding to my post when you mentioned there are always some deals that go south and I agree that it's how the seller responds that counts. I never said anything about having to have a flawless record. I just wondered why would anyone want to deal with someone when there is so much information to the contrary? It's only asking for trouble.

Greg,

I wasn't actually responding to your post. I was just stating a general principle by which I try to business as a buyer and a seller. Having deals go "golden" means correcting mistakes when they happen, in my opinion. I knew what you were saying, and I agree with you wholeheartedly!

Good questions raised above!

...but, with all due respect (and without disputing the veracity of anyone's version of events), my position remains the same: I am confident that Mr. Velci will not abuse my trust in any future transactions.

That said, I can recognize and appreciate the concerns that were expressed; one can never be too wary regarding transactions with virtual strangers (pun intended :D ), especially when there exist a variety of complaints related to that person.

That very fact is precisely why I have explicitly discussed the entire situation with Vince. As stated earlier, those conversations have renewed my faith in Vince, at least as regards to my own dealings with him.

On the other hand, you folks certainly cannot be faulted for refusing to suspend your doubts on the basis of another virtual stranger's (i.e. my) character assessment of a particular seller.

In sum, yes, I will do business with Velci again, but I'll not argue with anyone else for refusing to do so. After all, that would be excessively unreasonable of me. Everyone is entitled to his/her own judgment of a given set of facts.

Am I the only one.....

Lisa, I am sure that your latin words have some signifigant meaning but, they are totally slipping by me. The only latin I know are some of the latin name translations for the herps I keep. Could you provide translations please.

thanks

Lisa,

I'm confident he will not either (at least with you). By letting him know you had posted here he is now fully aware that there is a mechanism in place that even far from being perfect is probably the only one that has proven once and again to be effective.

Good luck!

*Blush*

Sorry, wes, it's just a stupid, little buzzword from my profession. In literal translation, it means "the thing speaks for itself."

This was not meant as a slight to anyone; it's just my cutesy way of saying " 'Nuff said. "

"Nuff said." :)

Forgot the other one!

Oh, and my signature phrase is not really latin at all (nor my own creation). It's a line stolen from a really great Canadian TV show called RED GREEN. The phrase is the motto of the mythical 'Possum Lodge. It supposedly translates into: "When all else fails, play dead."

I model my life after that show! ;)

--llw, promising to stay on topic from now on!

Alvaro,

The fact that she told him she is an attorney probably has as much to do with his attitude toward her as does this thread. No slight to the BOI intended.

Lisa,

I truly hope all goes well if you decide to do business with him in the future. However, if it does not, I hope you can swallow your pride and let us know here on the forum. That way your current postings will be seen in their proper light. We won't say "I told you so" . . .too much!

;)

Heh-heh-heh...

Darin,

... it's a deal! ;)

A Large Fingered Hillbilly Echo

That's just what I was thinking Darrin. That being a lawyer thing carries a lot of weight with some people, especially if they have been on the recieving end of someone fluent in "Lawyerese". No slight intended to Lisa or any others who speak this language, I was smiling as I wrote it.

Lisa,

One more thing, and then I'll leave it alone. Since you obviously enjoy the Latin phrases, here's one with which you are undoubtedly very familar . . .

Caveat emptor!

:D

(In case anyone else is wondering, it means, "Let the buyer beware")

Vince is a joke and I am sorry to see you falling for his lies. His mexican horned lizards were once from Nevada. Funny how it is hard to remember a lie. Try to get your story straight. And the aldabra was back in a corner cage. But it is a 4'X2' enclosure and was kept on orchid bark so we could maintain the humidity for the aldabra that had been problems since we recieved it. It had all the necessary lighting. As you can see Vince is using his lies to fool you. He treated us good in the beginning also. Just remember he will screw you the first chance he gets and put all the blame back on you. And Vince you didn't post because you were afraid. Thanks.

Just a thought

If there were two local pet stores, one great, reptiles only and the other was a run of the mill mom and pop store that sold everything including the $29.99 baby iguana: Say you went to the mom and pop and got a nice baby boa, everything went fine, then you find out that 10 of your friends, who bought there got ripped off, dead animals, poor service etc., wouldn't you go to the reptiles only store next time, even though you had one good experience at the mom and pop, especially if you had many GOOD references about the all reptile store?

Why keep losers in our business in business?

Dave Reid

Dave,

Sometimes people believe something like that will never happen to them. In Lisa's case, Vincent will make sure to take every precaution and each deal with her goes as smooth as silk.

Why? Lisa is a lawyer, as Darin mentioned, and she (very intelligently) let a lot of people know (through the BOI) that she was willing to put her trust in him again. One way or the other I'm grateful to Lisa for posting in here and thus giving me the opportunity to hear from other people's experiences with this company.

Another example

Do not think being a lawyer has anything...

to do with anything.

If people are thinking that this person is giving special treatment to someone because they are a lawyer, think again. I think we are giving WAY to much credit to lawyers. If that were actually the case, I would think that the person would not even DO business with the lawyer if they were scared of the lawyer because of their profession. Think about it, lawyers feed on the technicalities of situations, twisting the truthes around. Even if the deal goes smooth as silk, a lawyer can always try to find something to sue over.

David Reid

Yeah, the lawyer issue may well be...

... a red herring. Nevertheless, I think that we can all agree on the following: regardless of whether the parties have studied law, one would hope that the attitude underlying any transaction would be good faith and fair dealing.
