    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I decided that a semi private forum is in order for this site, now that there is a substantial number of contributing members that I should be able to call upon to help as a sort of "steering committee". There have been in the past, and will likely be in the future, issues that I may wish to have some input on before implementing to see if my reasoning is sound. I figure the people who are actually contributing financially to this site would be the logical persons I should go to for assistance.

Bear in mind that my asking for opinions does not obligate me to accept any particular opinion offered, and I do hope that no one will become upset if another opinion is used instead. I have gotten bitten by this before, so please, if you feel that your opinion MUST be used because you are absolutely convinced that you are correct, please spare us all the hard feelings and do not participate. Understand that when it comes down to the bottom line, the final decisions are mine alone to make. And in some cases, I may feel that the majority opinion is not really the best route to take. But I do listen to opinions and solicit them in many cases. But in many cases, as well, I have already given the situation quite a bit of thought, and may just be asking for help for an additional option that I may not have thought of already. THAT is what I am using asking for. Something I just may not have thought of.

Oh, and thank you from the bottom of my heart for being contributors to this site. To be perfectly honest, if it wasn't for your help and public showing of support, this site would not be here right now.

Rich, there aren't a lot of people that would take on a site of this magnitude and KEEP it going as well as you have.....as Mike said, we need to be thanking YOU. :)

Well thanks, but you know, I feel like I am getting kicked in the head at every opportunity here lately. I will say this, I have leaned one hell of a lot about human nature from this site...... :rolleyes:

You seem to be second guessing much of what you would like to do lately. It's nice that you ask the members for their opinions but ultimately you are the one having to make the hard decisions. Leaving you to endure the second guessing of the members and all the other BS that comes along with it. You know it will happen no matter what you do.

Just do your best to make the choices that you are most comfortable with. If some of the members disagree and give you a hard time about it. Lay your foot down. You are the voice and the law here. Like you have said countless times. If people don't like it they can leave. And if all else fails........ Make them leave.

Long story short............. If your tired of being kicked in the head. Start kicking back. You may just find your boot is bigger than anyone else's here. :)
 
Rich, thank you for this site, I have made friends and learned so much from those here who participate to futher my knowledge. This is contributed to you putting this whole thing together, you have done more than we will ever know by bringing us all together.
 
Quite honestly, I am trying hard not to be a megalomaniac asshole here. It is quite a powerful draw to just ban people who irritate me and be done with it. But fortunately I think I am stronger willed enough to resist that temptation, probably indefinitely. I prefer to give people the benefit of the doubt, and the wiggle room to change their ways if I work hard enough to try to convince them of what I think is best for this site is actually the best route to take. There are limits, of course, but my preference is to try to "mature" someone, rather then ban them. I think I have been successful in some instances, failed in others.

Does that make sense?
 
It makes perfect sense . But on the flip side you have to know that your setting yourself up to be kicked in the head, correct?

Is being a megalomaniac asshole any better than being a masochist?

It would be easy for some to argue that this site has taken on a life of it's own. Outside of the moderators and any fines or suspensions that may occur. To that effect, one could again argue that you need to stand up and take charge of the situations that YOU feel need to be dealt with or get out of the way.

I agree that it is we that should be thanking you... not only for this site, but for valuing our opinions and input to help make Fauna all that it CAN be!
