In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

"What do you see in this picture?"

Things that make you go...

Hmmmmmmm.

I did not notice an ad like that here, but perhaps I haven't looked hard enough as I have no need for a Dumi at this time.

Please say it isn't here!

Care to post a link???

Hate to be a party pooper...

But I must sleep at some point! I will post my findings, from my very own PC (once my daughter has vacated it--rotten wench!) in the morning.

Anyone who has any doubts as to the authenticity of this photo will be astonished by the findings, I am sure.

Maggie you are right on with your observations..especially with the "cloning"
Exactly..the whole thing looks so fake it is not even funny..Like Dennis H said, it looks like a dead snake "touched up"

Yes, This animal is actually for sale..No, it is not on Fauna..
I will provide a link PROVIDING that everyone is in an agreement that this looks like a bogus photo and a possible attempted scam. I feel that I (we) should be fair to the seller regarding this photo..
I have contacted the seller with no reply. Also visited their website to find a bad email address and phone number was removed. I don't want to see anyone get ripped off..that was my main concern. I did not buy this photo for a second. If need be, the seller can come here and explain...
I am posting a picture with circled areas to examine..think of it as a "Where's Waldo" book..
Harald is actually the the one that pointed this out to me..I missed it at first. I gave up LSD and the other drugs I did back in the late 80's , therefore my mind is not as focused as it once was, ....sadly
Harald, help me out here..

You know what, there's also a sheen to the right of the missing part of the tail (as it crosses the back) that isn't present to the left of the tail.
The snake looks like somebody took a paintbrush to it after it died, and the textures of the photo change across the photo. Look at it this way - if someone actually produced a Dumi that looked like that, why would they even have to advertise it? With animals like this one is trying to be, you call a large scale breeder and they'll pay whatever it takes to get an exceptional foundation animal.

fun stuff in here

I'm attaching another photo with things circled in yellow to make them more visible. THere are a lot of things going on here - the most obvious is whatever is going on with the tail. Then when I looked again, I started seeing things that just didn't belong...some, like the baby face that I highlighted earlier, might just be pattern abnormalities. Others - if they are really on the snake - would compel me to buy it, or run screaming from the hobby. It appears to have some images imposed (see below): top left - the baby face that was shown earlier...maybe just a pattern thing. next one to the right - some (demonic face) thing that interrupts the pattern and outer border of the snake - looks superimposed. far right - this one looks like a bad piece of tattoo clip art with some sort of red caption under it - just a weird spot? And my favorite, bottom left - I've never seen a snake with an image like that in the pattern. Funny thing is, I would almost swear that I've seen it before. There are alot of other things in there - funky pattern shifts and weird blurs, not to mention all the things you think you see when you start to look. When Michele sent me the pic, and I started seeing all these images, I figured I was just waaaay overtired, until she saw them, and I showed them to other people and they saw them (without my prompting). I'm sure there are some technical issues, but I have never played with photoshop, and might not recognize them for what they are...I just enjoyed looking for the pictures in the picture, lol (sadly, after I got a few hours of sleep, some of what I initially saw was nowhere near as clear)

hint - now that they've been pointed out, enlarge the image or scroll up to the one Paul posted earlier and look again

Harald..

everytime I look at that photo, I am seeing more and more.. (with your prompting of course)

I am starting to see all kinds of crap now!lol...
Either I am having an LSD flashback or I now need to be committed...
will you all come visit me in the asylum? Please?? :bawling:

Looks like a photo that was scanned using a scanner with a bad gear. There are vertical "lines" repeating across the pic, where the color/compression is out of whack. It's very consistent though. It would take some serious skill to get those lines so evenly-spaced.

Jpeg compression can create some of those problems, too. It's highly compressed (or compressed with a cheesy algorithm) which becomes very obvious when you zoom in.

IOW I don't think the picture was "artistically" altered or doctored by a person.

Like I said, I just had fun looking at all the pictures in the picture...I don't know what's real & what isn't

Whoa!

I didn't see any "pictures" within the picture (thank Gawd!) but the thing that screamed at me are the remarkable pattern similarities in various portions of this animal.

I circled some of them so others could see. The white looks like a flipped repeating pattern. Yellow you can see what is really messed up about the tail. It's not 'shopped all the way, but you can definitely see the body scale pattern is obscuring the right hand side of the tail, giving it the "invisible" look. Some other pattern anomalies I circled in blue.

To be fair, this is one of the crappiest photos I have had the displeasure of working with so the extreme pixilation may be part and parcel for some of the things we are "seeing". Even so, this animal appears to have very "unique" patterning going on and the color is definitely not true to form.

If the person who took this rather horrid photo would say that I am full of it and take another shot of this little Dum, I would be happy to be wrong.

I thought it was the Virgin Mary.

This is a sign you know...

can I help it if my mind has been deprived of recreational pharmaceuticals? Sadly enough, this is not the first time my tired eyes and brain have conspired to amuse themselves by seeking out images and forms out of random patterns. And once found, these things continue to jump out at me everytime I look at a given pattern (can you tell that I've spent alot of time alone, and too many hours not sleeping, lol).

I think that lower left image which I circled may have been the Virgin Mary...I knew I had seen that one before. Funny, I always thought she would be prettier. I guess, as they say in the classifieds, "the picture doesn't do her justice."

I for one, am happy that there is a logical explanation for the appearance of the photo (thank you, Serpwidgets and Maggie). I'm not sure how I feel about the "images" not really appearing on the snake...as I stated earlier, if they were there, I would have either bought the snake or run screaming from the hobby

Why would a person go to so much trouble? What's the point of that?
Just focus, take a picture, upload a picture. Why manipulate it?

I missed this thread earlier...and now after spending a ridiculous amount of time staring at all of the various versions of it on here.....I think I have not only bruised my eyes, I think I may have pulled a brain muscle. Sheesh. Whatever the actual case may be, I wouldn't go near purchasing this snake.....

Pssst, Paul.....that's not the Virgin Mary, it's Paris Hilton. Really.

Im with Herald. I would run away from this Boa...
Reading over the entire thread, I think this Boa needs an exorcism.
It has a demon face on it, which symbolizes the devil, and demonic entities inside the body. It also has the face of Virgin Mary, trying to exile the demons, unsuccessfully.
Holy crap, I've watched wayyy too many Discovery Channel "Haunting" shows lately.....

I'm no photo expert, but in my opinion it looks like someone took a low resolution digital image and photo shopped it. My guess is that the dry area was a hot spot from the flash, and the remaining image was over exposed. Rather than do a good job they photo shopped the whole image which is also why the glass in the foreground of the image has a pinkish cast to it. The ghosting probably occurred because the original image also had depth of field problems as well as exposure issues and while enhancing the pixel sharpness the result was that the image melted together in places. This problem was compounded by the sloppy color enhancement which led to the ghosting as the colors from the pebbles are pulled into the snake like water drops do to ink on letterhead. Likewise this could also explain why the image looks as though it has lines running through it, the software was doing it's job, but the author never took time to clarify or balance the values of the color's completely throughout the image. It's an either an example of sloppy editing or the author was inexperienced in the use of the software, or it could be an expert job of editing with a really poor quality initial image? Either way my guess is that it's a boa constrictor, just kidding!

Ok, this is my opinion on the whole thing. Have you ever seen a photo mosaic? This looks just like one. Basically, you take a master photograph, and a HUGE database of other images. Then, a program sorts through your image database looking for just the right piece of the puzzle to create the master image. Usually when you see them, they are things like a picture of Yoda, and when you get close enough you see all sorts of pictures from Star Wars.

I think they took a picture of the snake in question, altered the color, and then ran it as a master image. When you get close enough, there are patterns that just don't mesh, and would never happen in nature (or even with most photo alterations or scanning problems. If fact, every box consists of 8x8 pixles. Take a look at this. I have little doubt that this is what happened.

In the first one, you see colors that don't belong. In the second, you can see a SHARP delineation of where the left side of the tail is. In the 3rd, you see all sorts of patterns "fighting" with each other.

No question, this isn't an actual photo, not even close.
