    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

What is power feeding

What size and type of snake? Power feeding isn't good for any snake (that I know of) if that's what you are inquiring about. It involves multiple meals in one sitting, sometimes shoving additional meals into the snake, or feeding every day. You could hurt, shorten the lifespan of, or kill the snake. Obese snakes make poor breeders too. I would advise against.

What animal(s) are you referring to? Power feeding in most situations regarding almost any animal though is talking about over feeding that animal. Most commonly heard of in Snakes, and dogs. I am sure you could TRY and power feed anything. More so here though is I have read that power feeding is not good. I would never do this myself and never advise anyone else to do so. I hear in snakes, especially BP's it can cut their lifespan in half! I would not go any further with this IMO. Good luck

I feed my boa every 14 days I have gave him rat pinkies and hopper mice he's about 4 months old not sure though and I told them how I was feeding him I new to the hubsndy of boas I want the best for my boa I saw the other tread and it seems like every one has there on way. I just don't want to over feed but I don't want to under feed and is there anything better to feed him then just rats and mice now thru adulthood

Every 14 days is a good feed schedule. I feed either weekly or bi-weekly depending on the appetite of the animal. I feed my animals one rat approximately the same width of the snakes largest portion of their body. You of course can feed mice, rats and later in their life even rabbits. But i keep it simple with rats.

i am fairly new to the herp world and have a ball python and a milk snake. I was told when i purchased my snakes to offer them additional mice after there first one and see if they would like to eat more. The breeder said they would stop feeding when they are full. My ball is about 2 feet long and has for the last 3 weeks eaten three medium sized mice once per week is this ok? or is this power feeding? my milk just got through shedding and has not eaten in 3 weeks, after he shed i gave him 3 small fuzzy's. any advice or is what im doinng ok?

That might be considered power feeding to some. What the breeder told you is not quite true. See, a lot of snakes will engorge themselves if offered the opportunity. As has been said in other threads, one should suffice as long as it gives the animal a decent bulge in its belly. Something about as wide as the snakes fattest body section should do the trick.

Just to throw a rough number on what I do with my ball pythons, 10-20% of the snakes weight (the day of feeding) goes to them once a week max. 20% is usually after a shed cycle or a two week plus break from eating. If you haven't invested in a scale, you can get a cheap one on ebay for $15-25. Make sure it reads grams (easiest I think).

so when I feed should I offer 1 item or 2. someone told me 2 is better for them as long as it not to much. is this true? help !!!

You'll find nothing but opinions on that one. I think one would be fine. Sometimes they will take a second, not because they want it, but because they are still in "feeding mode."

I agree slow is the way to go. someone told me that if i give them feed them 2 smaller items rather then one lager size item.that it give them more nutrients. that why i ask. thanks for all the info i am just trying to find out everything i can so i can take the best possible care of them
