In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I am wondering what everyones health and guarantee policy is? How long do you guarantee the health of your dragons once they leave your possession?

Maybe I am in the wrong, but I just had somebody say they wouldn't buy from me because I wouldn't guarantee the health of the dragons for 6 weeks.

I have no problem guaranteeing their health for a couple of weeks, but how can I guarantee the health of a dragon for 6 whole weeks when I have no control over their daily care and have no idea the type of environment they are going into? Not to mention, the dragons they were interested in were 12+ inches and a few months old. Obviously healthy and striving.

So....What is your policy?

My current policy is 14 days, but I am always available if something comes up later. Six weeks is too long to guarantee anything in my opinion. Despite our best efforts to educate, people are bound to screw up and it isn't fair to hold the breeder responsible for husbandry issues months down the road. That said, I am available 24/7 to answer questions or give advice. I have even made house calls for new owners concerned about their husbandry or set ups. :)

I am currently reworking my website and my policy is going to be changed to reflect that I am not responsible for blatant disregard for the animal's well being. For example, if you feed mealworms to your hatchling when I expressly told you not to and your baby gets impacted, it is not my responsibility to pay your vet bills. Or, if you put your new hatchling in with your adult bearded dragon despite my telling you that it was a guaranteed fail, I am not responsible for replacing the baby when it gets chewed on. Honestly, it's enough to make me want to stop breeding altogether sometimes. It's really sad and it's always preventable, but it's definitely not my fault.

Someone insisting on extended guarantees is a red flag in my book. It immediately pops into my head that the dragon(s) are a gift to a young child or someone that the buyer knows to be irresponsible.

My health guarantee is 7 days (because I have no control over someone elses setup/care) but I am available for help and answering questions permanently after purchasing from me. My customers get my personal contact info just in case they need anything. Below is my terms/policy quoted.

Cryptic Dragons guarantees the health of all of its dragons for 7 days after arrival so long as the customer is there for receiving the package.

Cryptic Dragons is not responsible for dragons that are dropped off due to the person not being at home to receive the shipment.

Cryptic Dragons is not responsible for lost or held up packaged due to the shipping company.

We ship solely with FedEx next day air. We are not responsible for health problems due to insufficient care.
We only ship out packages on Monday for next day delivery. Delivery time will be discussed at time of purchase.

Your care will be gone over as well as pictures required upon the death of a dragon. Do not discard of the body until talking with me. Store the body in your freezer.

If it is determined that your dragon passed away within the 7 day time frame at no fault of your own Cryptic Dragons will either refund the purchase price (shipping is a non-refundable expense) or replace the dragon with one of equal value. I encourage all customers to ask as many questions as possible prior to purchasing a dragon so as to have your setup 100% right before receiving.

Sexing is my best guess I do not guarantee sex of hatchlings.

If you wish to put a dragon on hold you must send us a 25% non-refundable down payment which will hold the dragon for a period of 30 days (unless otherwise discussed as special arrangements can be made).

The store I worked at only promises their reptiles to arrive alive. Period. They did bend the rules for me when I bought one from them and sent it to me, it died within a few days so they sent me pics and sent me a new one, I only had to pay for shipping.

I did 2 weeks. that was after bumping it up from one week.

To be honest i would up my guarantee when i get around to it. For me (with bearded dragons) the hardest part is getting the dragon to settle in its new habitat correctly. Once you got them in and cozy its smooth sailing from there. This seems to be one of the few problem with the customers on the web.Which with a few help tips, it clears up. Most customers on the web are experienced or have atleast had a dragon before. Stragglers aside.

The biggest problem with customers at the reptile shows is, its there first dragon and they want it for there kid (why i have a guarantee) Because there little kid wants to hold the dragon, pet the dragon, take the dragon next door to there friends house, or they wanted to go swimming with the dragon. So you have to go over how to house feed and care for them ALL over again.. Only to find out......... there kid and (new free) dragon went swimming again. (why i do two three reptile shows a year).

John,

If someone has a problem with your policy, your better off passin them along. If i ever have a sketchy customer, i try NOT to make the sale. I dont need the problem. Because sometimes it bites you in the butt.
