    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    Addendum: 01/10/2026
    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

What should I do?????!!!!!

I just recieved an email yesterday from a guy I shipped a perfectly healthy pair of adult leucy TX ratsnakes to. He informs me that the day before the email, the female was sluggish and was dead the next day. He has had the snakes since 9/13......well over a month. I'm pretty sure he's expecting money back, but I don't think I'm responsible after the amount of time that has lapsed. Just wondering how I should handle the situation. Both animals were feeding well on F/T rats and mice and in great shape. The female had just laid a nice clutch of eggs about a month prior, but was gaining weight normally. What should I do?

Thanks in advance.

Did he say if the animal had eaten for him since he got it? Did you talk with him after he got it? Was he happy? There will probably be a lot of opinions about this one, but 30 days seems a reasonable time limit.

Yes he contacted me a few times through email over the last month just to ask a few questions and said nothing but good things about the animals. Both animals were very calm for leucies and I hated to let them go. He never said anything about them not feeding. He even emailed me 3 times in the last week to ask my opinion on breeding the female to an albino male.

Did he provide any proof that she was dead? Did he take her to the vet for a necropsy? What type of guarantee did you give him?

Brandon,
Its just a business decision that you have to make. Unless you had some specific TOS clause, or other written agreement, that would warranty the health of the animals or customer satisfaction over an extended time frame, there are very few in this forum that would not support your decision to not refund or offer other compensation after this much time has elapsed. It is unfortunate for the customer that an animal has died, but I don't know anyone that would cover an animal this far out unless there had been timely communication much earlier that there was a problem.
