In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

What was yoour experience with KCRD?

Has anyone bought anything from them? How did it go? His name is Jason Hormann.

Thanks in advance. :)

I have made 2 separate purchases from Jason this year (5 animals total). All arrived healthy & in good condition. The only glitch was with the first order, which was for 3 animals - the ATB was not the one I purchased (via photo ad on KS). I had a little trouble reaching Jason afterwards; but when I did, he apologized for the mistake and quickly worked out an agreeable arrangement. Obviously, since I ordered from him again, I was satisfied. For what it's worth - I would recommend him.

I purchased 2 very nice animals from Jason a few months back. The delivery company screwed a few things up but all it took was one phone call to Jason and he was on the horn with his people getting it straightened out. I certainly recommend him and will buy from him again.

Thanks for the replies. They have good prices on their animals. My main concern was what Harald was precisely stating with the picture issue. They don't provide individual pictures of the animals for sale. I'm looking for a female Sumatran black blood for a friend, and he was specific about what he was looking for in an animal. It's very difficult to order sight unseen. When buying over the web pictures are very important (If not look at the thread in the General Business Forum!). I don't doubt the quality of their animals, but the fact is that most people like to see what they buy before their purchase.

Thanks again :)

Dan, when I purchased one of my boa's I told them that in order to complete the deal I would need pictures. Jason had those to me very quickly and I would think they would do the same for you.

I bought my first boa, a Hog island adult male, from Jason in early 2004. This was the first time I ever had an animal shipped - DHL made a mistake and sent the snake to the wrong zip code (one of the package sorters misread), Jason was right on top of calling them and making sure the shipment was rerouted. The snake arrived a day late and a little chilly, but packed great. He's an awesome snake, and Jason's efforts to help fix DHL/Airborne's mistake were commendable. I'd do business with him again.

There’s nothing wrong with not posting pictures of the animals for sale. But my preference is to see the animal before committing to a purchase. When buying a snake I’m not going for something “generic”. I don’t want just a boa, a ball or a blood python. What I’m looking for are specific traits, such as colors, patterns, general appearance, etc. As I told Jason, it’s understandable if he doesn’t want to go through the trouble of taking pictures. After all there’s not an absolute certainty that I’ll buy the animal even after looking at them. But in my opinion that’s part of conducting business. Anyways, it seems I’ll have to pass on this one. No harm done or ill will. :)

Regards

Hey all thanks for the posts on this thread! I just wanted to clarify some things. A lot of people know this but some don't, I am the owner of KCRD.

I breed, buy, and broker animals for 10 major breeders in the country and three major importers in the US. Most of the time I can provide photos of the animals I sell as some of you already know, and other times I can not. The times I can't are times when my animals are being drop shipped from my importer or breeder's facilities. This case was one of those cases. I can request photos but if they don't have time I won't get the photos. I keep a lot of animals on hand, and when I am full on space I will just have the animals drop shipped to avoid the extra shipping costs and time for the animal being in a box. I am fully aware that photos help with the selling process, they just aren't always available.

I hope this clairifies my intensions and that I'm not just being a lazy business owner.

Jason is one of the good guys...I have done many of shows with him..His reptiles are top notch..( He gets from the best breeders). What reptiles he breeds are ALWAYS dripping with health..Keep up the great work Jason...
You can buy from Jason with confidence.....

Lynn,

Please don't get me wrong, I never said you couldn't buy from him with confidence. The only point I was trying to make was the same one I made about LLL. At least for me, it's important to see a picture of what I'm buying regardles of the company. Clark, Davis, Kahl, VPI, Sutherland's, all send pictures of their animals, and they are among those with the highest reputation. Ben Siegel sells hundreds of animals but he posts individual pictures. It's not because doubting the company that I want to see pictures, but because the looks and general appearance of the animal I'm purchasing are very important to me. Thanks for your input though! :)

I understand where you are coming from. My post was not directed at you.I just stated what I felt about Jason..He is one of the good guys...I have never bought off the net..I am old fashion..I like to touch and see what I buy. (Just my opinion) I buy at shows or from a breeder I know and trust..

I did a search here on KCRD because they were advertising blue-tongue skinks on "the other" ( :censored: ) classified forum. I read this thread and a couple others. I decided to contact them on January 2, 2006.

Several emails were exchanged (I kept them), and he said that he didn't have these animals in his possession - but would request pictures for us. I expressed my intent to purchase 3-4 northerns and possibly a pair of indonesians, however today Jason just blew me off.

Here is his last response to my request for the promised pictures:

I don’t believe it will be possible for us to get photos at this time. We have too much business and are way to understaffed to take photos. Thanks for your interest we just have to many people buying them with out photos.

Thanks,

I don't know how you feel, but I agree with Dan (BoidSmith): we have to have photos before agreeing to buy an animal. We have sold hundreds and hundreds of reptiles too - and we always provide individual photos of each one.

In recent months, there have been so many mis-representations of BTS, most due to ignorance of the different species. Just recently I saw where a girl was told by the seller that she bought a western from him!!! What she got was an Irian Jaya, and she didn't know the difference.

As serious breeders, we know what we are looking for. I certainly don't need to be insulted by a reptile broker when I ask for pics!

Jason has more than aptly answered this scenario above. I understand your frustration but it is what it is. Jason is one of the good guys in my book and I have never hesitated in my dealings with him. I understand there are times, as explained above, that he cannot physically provide pictures and that's fine with me. I may choose to buy elsewhere but again, Jason understands that aspect of it as well.

Morgana, I can understand you may be frustrated at the situation, but I don't see where he insulted you in the e-mail you posted. You made a request, he was unable to comply and told you he couldn't get you pictures and then thanked you for your interest. Hardly an insult in my opinion.

Sam,
He said he would get pictures in an earlier email - said he understood our request. After 8 days of exchanges he just decided a sale to us wasn't worth the effort??? I consider that an insult.

I would never treat a customer like that!!!!! If for some odd reason we could not supply pictures, I would offer an apologetic explanation - certainly not state that "we just have to many people buying them with out photos".

It passed "frustration" when he made that remark.

Morgana,
I see your point, if he agreed to pictures in another e-mail then I can see how you would feel strung along and be upset with the off hand slight in the quoted sentence. I wouldn't let it get you pissed though, some people just have a higher standard of customer service, seems that maybe his aren't as high as yours. :)

Sam,

I am not really pissed -- disappointed in his customer service is more to the point.

This thread asked "What was your experience with KCRD"
Well, this was my experience. And you hit the nail on the head: I felt strung along then brushed off because I asked for more than he wanted to give.

Strung Along

I do appologize if you felt strung along. Since the beginning of the year, we have been getting slammed with business. I don't keep a lot of the animals on hand during the cold months here in KC since my shows slow way down and frankly it's easier to have my breeders and suppliers drop ship them for me. I appologize and never intended to insult or "blow you off". I hope we can do business in the future.

Thanks,
Jason
