    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Wheezing?????

I recently acquired an awesome 5 foot, 3 year old red tail boa from ReptileAuctions. I've had him for about 2 weeks, since I've had him I've noticed a wheezing sound when he breaths. Its not all the time, and I've only heard it when I've had him out and he's close enough to hear it. It doesn't appear to be a wet sounding wheeze. There are no liquids coming from his nose either. It almost sound like he might have a piece of skin from a past shed in his nose. Other than that he's in perfect health. He eats well and is active. Any ideas?

IMO, those temps are higher than needed (I hesitate to say TOO high, but that is my thought). It may well be that the high temp, coupled with dry conditions, are the cause of your problems.

I've had similar problems with an anaconda of mine. I was using newspaper as a substrate and had trouble keeping up humidity even with multiple daily mistings. She stated kinda whistling from her nose during physical exertion. I switched to cypress mulch and gave her a big tub to soak in and the sounds pretty much went away. I don't know for sure but it seemed that the dry conditions had something to do with it.

Well he does have a big water bowl that he gets in several time a day. I may try to lower the temps a bit to see if that helps.

what type of enclosure is it in? how are you heating? have you checked the humidity?

Without giving an actual diagnosis, id say the temps may have some play. If he is soaking a lot, it may be due to trying to cool off, it also may be cuz he likes to soak. LOL I don't think the hot side is too hot, but the cool side should be cooler IMO. My cool sides are at 75-81 usually.
