In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

SOUTH GLENS FALLS – Two young boys were injured after a “bouncy house” was swept away by a gust of wind Monday afternoon.
Three children were inside the play structure when the wind lifted the inflatable toy 50 feet into the air.
The three kids -- ages 5, 6, and 10 -- fell out of the toy. The two boys were seriously injured. The girl suffered minor scrapes and bruises
Parents say one boy landed on a parked car and the other landed on asphalt.
Glens Falls police are not releasing the victims' names or conditions, but say the one boy who landed on pavement was conscious and talking at the scene.
The incident happened around 3:30 p.m. in front of a townhouse on Ferry Boulevard. Parents say the bouncy house floated over a stretch of woods and landed in the fields behind Oliver W. Winch Middle School.
A witness snapped a picture of the toy in mid-air. People who saw the incident say the boys fell out when the structure was about 15 feet off the ground.
Police say the 10-foot by 10-foot toy was secured to the ground with spikes, but the wind lifted it anyway.

Um...Why was it up if it was a windy day? If it's windy, we don't use bouncy houses...

We actually have a 5 in 1 bounce house scheduled for July for my Daughter's birthday. If it's windy, the company will give us a refund, and schedule for another day.

Unless it was a freak wind storm, I don't see why parents would have had the bounce house up! Yikes! :ack2:

Thank goodness the kids were alright, and no one was killed!

Well, the location was about 40 miles from me...but I didn't notice anything beyond a nice breeze while I was up and around yesterday. :shrug01:

I'm inclined to say they couldn't have had it staked down all that well; but it wouldn't have gotten that high without a decent gust under it. Maybe there was a bit of a wind tunnel effect that was contributory?

Apparently, it wasn't a "professional" quality model, nor was there a rental company to consider liabilty...it was one of the cheap blow ups that can be purchased on Amazon or at Toys R Us for about $250.

Yeah, it was a Little Tikes model...Which definitely shouldn't have been up if it was the least bit windy. The stakes on those are horrible, and they're actually not that strong. They should have tied it down, along with stakes.

We used to have a small bounce house like that. We always tied it down, along with stakes...We finally got rid of it because it was to prone to winds. Not very safe in my opinion. But they sell a lot of them, so they have to be safe on some level.

Now that I know it's a cheap, home model, and another day has passed since it happened; I want to buy one - just to see if I can get mine higher than 50ft. Naturally, I wouldn't allow passengers for this; but I think it would be fun to use one as a kite.:reddevil:

Now I have the movie "Up" on my mind.... :D

How terrifying, must have been one of those dust devils. My mom had to tie down her rabbit hutch because a big dust devil lifted it up and dumped it on its side(rabbit was fine).

Is it wrong that the first thought that crossed my mind was that it sounded like a blast?! Other than the whole falling from 50ft onto a parked car part, but flying away on a bounce house kinda sounds awesome :D
