    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Maybe a good laugh will help.

Most of this site is way too serious. Mostly my fault, I know, but much of the subject matter is serious stuff. Of course, there are quite a few threads that show up on the BOI that probably could be transferred here, but that's not what I am shooting for here.

I get jokes emailed to me all of the time and just wind up deleting them when I read them and have a laugh or two. I'm sure other people have the same thing happening. So I figured, why not have a place to dump them for all to share and perhaps enjoy?

Now this will probably be a rather un-politically correct forum, and I want to warn everyone that if you can't laugh at yourself, then you might as well not come in here. If you can't laugh at someone making a hamburger out of your sacred cow, there will most likely be something in here to piss you off. Leave it at home. I don't want anyone arguing with anyone about the appropriateness of what they might think is funny if you don't agree. I will nip arguments like that in the bud REAL quick. Matter of fact, I am soliciting someone to be a moderator for this forum, and it should be someone with a real good sense of humor and no axes to grind with ANY topic at all. Any volunteers?

So please use this forum in the spirit it is offered. To have some fun and for it to be a place to unwind a bit.
 
So what would a moderator's duties entail, if only to make sure that no one is arguing with someone over a posted joke, and maybe that the joke is a joke and not a death threat or something to that extreme, I might step up.

Not exactly what the duties would entail in here. I have only had to delete a couple of messages and that was simply because someone immediately did what I told everyone not to do: Complain about being offended by someone else's idea of a joke.

That's about the only rule I can think of that would apply in here. I'm not even sure if there is a way to draw a line at where humor ends and crudity or bad taste begins. I guess it's kind of like the definition of pornography. You really can't say what it is, but you know it when you see it.

Anyway, I'm giving this some time to percolate. Got a lot to do tonight and tomorrow, but I will address the moderator issue soon as I can.

and the more you see the better it is!!;) And why do they use such bad backgroud music in all those movies?? Anyway Webslave/Rich, if you are looking for a smart ass moderator, I'm always here!! Plus I am always being told my sence of humor is "sick and twisted" or maybe it's just me who is sick and twisted...anywho back to work....

I like the idea of moderating this forum. Talk about helping out.
To do this job I would ask myself this...
Why do people laugh at sick jokes? Perhaps it is a contradiction to people's own sense of morality, or maybe it's because something that is forbidden or frowned upon triggers that shock factor inside your brain. Either way, sometimes the sickest jokes are the funniest.

I make no excuses for lack of political correctness. In fact, I'm positively against it! :)

That leads me to this...How many sexists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Thanks for the offer, but looking at the amount of traffic this forum has had since I set it up, I don't think it really needs a dedicated moderator at all. Bear in mind that my original statement was made just over 9 years ago....

Well, since it was already 'up' from the way my computer displayed it, I didn't see a need to look at the date... It was already on the top, so I assumed it was new. I apologize if you find that offensive somehow.
 
There are "sticky" threads at the top of many of the forums - informational items posted by moderators that stay on top. In most cases, these threads are intended to be free standing, but sometimes people respond or question...it adds some confusion sometimes.

Many of the stuck threads are pretty old...and have distracting posts in them (like this one, now, lol). It might be worth us reviewing them, copy/pasting the relevant message into a new sticky (closed to posts), and turning the old ones loose.
