    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hey Im good with my hands and can built alot of things. I was wondering where can I find this plastic PVC material? I looked in homedepot but there seemed to be none. thanks guys if you can help me.

It might be easier for people to advise you on this, if they knew your general location.
 
My general location? Im here in miami,Fl. I thought it said MIA on location?
 
sorry - a lot of people don't put their location, using "Eden", "here and there", "lost in space" etc...I interpreted MIA to be Missing In Action.
 
you can try sign shops,they usually carry sheets of plastic.keep in mind it's very expensive.i did a show last week next to me was a cage/rack maker and he's paying close to $200 per sheet of 1/2 plastic.also it needs to be welded,either thermally or chemically.have fun!
 
It is also called HDPE, or High Density Polyethylene, if that helps at all. Look for plastics suppliers, distributors, manufacturers, etc.
 
HDPE is one type of plastic material. It is exceptionally expensive though and quite heavy.
The vast majority of rack manufacturers use PVC. Some use 1/4 and some use 3/8.

I've used HDPE to build cages, but the minimum I would use is 1/2", anything thinner is not rigid enough over any span.
HDPE can be thermally welded but I believe PVC is only chemically welded, but I could be mistaken there. It is sometimes thermoformed though.
HDPE 1/2" or thicker can be screwed together as well. You can work it just as you would wood.
 
HDPE plastic is the only way to go, a little expensive at around $200.00 a sheet, but will last a life time. most rack builders use a cnc router to slot the side walls for the shelves and the bottom of the shelves and the side walls for the flex watt. the preferred method of assembly is screws. :)

All my racks used to be 1/2 foam core and all that did was bow up and bind up all the tubs so they would not slide open. :angry:

Its cheaper to just buy your racks at around $300.00-$400.00 :yesnod:
 
Wow by the sounds on everyones comment I think im gonna stick with melamine. Can you get melamine with a balck finish? Or any other color than white?
