    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

Where do your dogs sleep?

Snakes and lizards sleep in their racks. Birds sleep in their cages. Cats sleep where they please.

But dogs? Some owners do not allow dogs on their beds, so some dogs sleep on the floor, in crates, on the sofa.

On the other hand, the phrase 'Three Dog Night" was used to signify in cold climates that it takes that many dogs to warm up a bed enough to sleep. Of course some folks need no excuse at all and let their pooches just pile on the family bed and make themselves right at home.

How about you, where do your dogs sleep?

The big lug would LOVE to sleep in our bed, but he's relegated to the foot of it in his own doggie bed. He will pounce all 75lbs of himself on you first thing in the morning when it's "time to go out" though! What a way to wake up from a sound sleep!:)

Our 2 little ones hog the bed.....one on the pillow and one on my legs usually, lol. The Chesapeake is the ol man's hunting dog, so he sleeps outside, but he has a doghouse that's probably better insulated than our house is.....the Bloodhound and the Cur...well, it depends on their mood and the temps. Hound pretty much prefers outside unless it's sub-zero, and about this time of year, the Cur calls the couch her bed.....she'll mostly stay in until spring returns now.

Basically.......wherever the heck they want, lol. And as people think WE train DOGS. HA! ;)

The Pug and the Cocker sleep in the bed. The Sheltie and the Golden are on the floor. If I fall asleep on the couch, the Pug and the Sheltie hang out with me there. :cool:

All three dogs and four cats sleep right in the bed. The pit-mix cannot fall asleep unless she is snuggled up to my wife under the covers. Make me jealous sometimes

My aussie mix Jango sleeps ACROSS my bed, I am permitted to join him wherever I find room. His kitty Azriel sleeps next to him if not being used as a pillow. Matt's Shiba Haiku will curl up right next to me. And my other kitty will claim some bottom part of the bed. The problem arises when Matt finally decides to come to bed and there's no place left for him!

Our two sleep in bed with us, of course. Good thing we have a king size bed, Juno (boxer) hogs the covers and has to have his own pillow, I kid you not.

I have too much dog around here to have them in/on the bed. They have a crate (which the presa frequents, and the pit only heads for when he has been bad,) their own bed (48x30, constructed of 8" of orthopedic foam and 2 layers of foam "eggcrate"), and the sofa. The sofa is only allowed I finally got disgusted with their loveseat and threw it out (yup, had their own loveseat). When I am in bed, it is usually surrounded. The pit, even though he is not allowed on the bed, makes himself quite comfortable. (another recycled photo, originally posted in Just For Laughs)

The cat tried to climb in bed with me too.....but this tends to create probems, as cat claws and waterbeds do NOT mix well.....;) so he usually sleeps in bed with my son.

the dog sleeps in her crate (palatial... and right next to my bed). If I let her up on the bed for the night, I'd be on the floor by 3 am.

This is where Jersey is supposed to sleep:

But this is where I usually find her:

Yes, she really is yawning at me for disrupting her nap with the camera flash.
Now that the electric blanket is back on the bed, she never leaves.
What a big baby.

:rofl: :rofl: :rofl:

Ain't that typical???

I bought Molly one of those fancy schmancy wicker doggie beds, and a big fluffy pillow bed to go in it.....and she just turned her nose up, gave me a look of disdain, and returned to the nice warm waterbed.... :rolleyes:

lol very typical. I actually built that bed for Jersey from scratch. She, of all people (did I just say that?) should know how disastrous it can be for me to work with power tools. :raspberry I built it around one of those Sealy Posturepedic dog mattresses, but there's just two bed pillows in there for the pic.

Well I must say you did a very fine job on that bed......assuming you still have all of your fingers intact after building it... :raspberry

Paul that is a REALLY beautiful dog bed!

aww, thanks. I can't take credit for the letters on the front though. That had been a roommate's idea.

And yes, I still have all my fingers. :>poke2<: ...for now at least. I'm getting another dog in a few months. :dgrin:

LOL. Tell more about the planned new dog?
