Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. I am a lifelong loyal Democrat who has voted straight for my party in every election since Jimmy Carter. I am a moderate and cannot stand extremism on both sides, right and left.

However, I am extremely suspicous of John Kerry, who I am now certain is telling any particular audience what he thinks they want to hear so he will be elected.

I am extremely afraid of what he would do to our hobby using the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, considering the repressive nature of the wildlife laws in his home state.

I truly supported Al Gore, and believe that our hobby would have been safe under him despite the propaganda radical environmentalist labeling against him. Gore was certainly proven to be a moderate. He would have never have been stupid enough to go into Iraq.

I really support George W. Bush's very progressive handling of the Endangered Species Act and the USFWS overall. In this, he has been the best president in my time. However, I totally disagree with just about every thing else he stands for except the defeat of the Taliban, which was extremely well done.
Iraq is a catastrophe.

I am inclined to go sign in at the voting place and hand in my ballot blank for President. What do you think? Please feel free to be as descriptive, colorful, crazy, or nasty as you wish in your descriptions of the candidates.

Also, please tell us what you think of Bush's radio talk show host cheerleaders like Rush and Neil Boortz and Fox News personalities like Hannity and O'Reilly. Or, tell us what you think of my heroes Michael Moore and Al Franken and what they have to say.

One thing is certain about Kerry...

Voting for Kerry would be contradictory to stating "I support our troops." If Kerry's elected, I can guarantee that you'll see an even more substantial decline in the morale of the armed forces. Ketchup boy is no friend to those in uniform.

As for Iraq, the war was necessary, IMO, and handled well. What was not handled well was the occupation, as it appears to have been poorly planned.

Alas, how could I forget about Moore... I hope that fraudulant anti-American lardass chokes to death on the next Twinkie his fat fingers stuff down his throat. His lies are well documented. I pity those who would actually look up to someone as intellectually dishonest as Michael Moore

michael_moores_next_gig.jpg

Ken that is the funniest thing I have seen this week...

Kerry is just another in the line of bleeding heart liberals who believe in tax and spend. If by some fluke he gets elected I am moving to Canada, and you can expect a mass exodus in the military also. Who in their right mind would fight for a fool like Kerry?

Hey.....go ahead and make it easy and vote for Bush! LOL!

I did vote for him and do not regret it. Although, there may be some things that I disagree with him on...overall, for the issue of defense and fighting terrorism, I am glad he is in office. People always ask me why I vote Republican and I say, " I like guns and babies!"

This reminds me actually that I need to go register since I have moved since the last election.......

Defense should always be an important issue. After all...the freedom we have to do the things we love to do, live life, etc., is not free but fought for. Any politician that does not make defense any important part of what they are doing has no business wasting our time with anything they say with any campaign.

As far as Michael Moore....he is not worth talking about and to me does not matter.

I also don't care for Rush and never have. As far as Fox....I don't watch it but I do watch CNN.

I do appreciate your post Bruce, despite the fact we may disagree on some things. Great thread idea!

Take care!

Libertarians

You can always vote Libertarian, that way you never get blamed for who is in office. On the other hand you don't have to pick between the offerings the "major" parties provide.

I think many of us want better choices!

Maybe we've been a bit too hasty in our condemnation of Michael Moore's new movie. It could have some wonderful side effects, after all. One theatre manager was quoted in New York, saying the following about the early release of the film there yesterday:

"People have been crying and applauding at the end of shows. Some say they don't want to live in America anymore."

I hadn't thought of THAT!!! If Moore is increasingly able to tell the moronic how horrible this country is, they may want to leave! That would be wonderful, and for THAT prospect, I would be willing to offer to pay for a few tickets to the show for some folks I know!

If Moore is increasingly able to tell the moronic how horrible this country is, they may want to leave!

We'll never be that lucky. Look at all the Hollywood types that said they were leaving if Bush won the last election. They refuse to leave, even with the internet pettitions to help them make moving expenses. The leeches will never go, they know how easy they have it here.

Hello Everyone!

Not many Democrats here like myself so far! Hi Jeff. What do you think of Neil Boortz, the radio talk show host? I know he is a big Libertarian.

Well, first off we need better choices. As for the ones we have, Ill take Kerry. W is not fit to be President. Hes made terrible decisions, lies about those decisions, and without scripted cards couldnt talk his way out of a debate with a third grader. This entire adminstration needs to go. I dont pretend to know everything about politics but some republicans seem to just blindly and deafly follow Bush wherever he wants to go. As for Moore, Im going to see his movie this weekend so I dont really have any thoughts on him yet. Rush is too far to the right for me.
I dont really watch anyone else, I get tired of all the BS.
Too much BS.

moore even stole the name

bruce,
I know your more to the right than you think you are.
You are honest ,smart ,and I think a vote for bush from you will
bring you over to the right side.
If you let the dark side take over forever will it rule our destiny.
mike moore is a fraud and I never even consider watching
his hate filled trash.

Sorry to tell most of you this, but I have loved Michael Moore ever since his brilliant first film "Roger and Me" and his hilarious television show "TV Nation." Please see if you can rent any of these, and I promise you will like Michael Moore.

Even after watching this trash from Moore I still wouldn't mind kicking his eyes in.

Here are my plans for this weekend:

First, I am taking my wife out to see Michael Moore's "Fahrenheit 911". After that we are stopping at a bookseller to buy President Bill Clinton's book "My Life." I can't tell you how good I feel about giving my hard earned money to these two great men and their causes.

Much like visiting a prison will endear you to the convicts. I fail to see how subjecting oneself to Moore's lies and deception will get someone to like him. Bottom line is that Moore is intellectually dishonest, a fraud, and a gigantic waste of flesh.

I'm not stating this as a partisan view. Moore's deceptions are an indisputable matter of fact.

After that we are stopping at a bookseller to buy President Bill Clinton's book "My Life." I can't tell you how good I feel about giving my hard earned money to these two great men and their causes.
What follows is my "partisan" opinion... Clinton's only endearing quality was that he possessed charisma. Other than that, he was a poor leader. His disregard for the rights of Americans and his disdain for the Armed Forces left a rather bitter taste in my mouth. Whether we like to admit it or not, the POTUS should also serve as a moral compass for Americans. That was one of his worst failures. One cannot lead effectively if they are not worthy of respect.

That being said, I don't feel that any POTUS in recent history (including GWB) can measure up to the late President Reagan. He hit the nail on the head with, "Government is not the solution. It's the problem."

Hey Bruce,

Are you angry at your wife or something? Why would you do that to her??????? LOL! :)

Take her to a snake show instead and buy her a snake!!!!! Buy her a nice northern pine snake. She can have a pet that hasn't committed perjury, adultery, AND make movies supporting democratic extremism without a solution to offer.

That way......your money is better spent for about the same price as that book AND movie, with popcorn and drinks combined.

LOL! Take care!

Logic and Reason are powerful things.

If you're still uncertain for whom to vote, please consider not only the candidate, but consider a party's record. It is clear the Democratic Party is the party for those who cherish this planet and responsible rights of the individual.

This is for all of you republicans on this site who seem to cherish your special rights to keep these animals and carry your guns.

Why do you, in an almost mythological way, demonize liberals? It is the liberals who will save you from yourselves. Liberals will protect the other species of this planet, liberals will protect the minorities from the oppressive majority, and liberals will protect this planet from ourselves. You cherish your animals and their habitats, but you vote for people who lack any such respect.

How often do you turn on your TV and see a liberal hatefully bashing religious conservatives? Not very often at all would be the correct answer. If fact, it is far easier to turn on Fox News and see liberal bashing at almost anytime of the day. You point your fingers at liberals such as Michael Moore and say he is filled with hate, but how do you explain Fox's extremely brash and un-countered attacks on liberals or hateful conservative protesters to gay rights? How do you explain the attempt by our President to put discrimination into our most cherished governing document? Bush ran as compassionate, but has been nothing but the opposite, a divider who caters to the extremist right.

Liberals fight to preserve or evolve the rights of the individual for the individual's personal happiness. Republicans repress minorities today just as they have always done so in the past. Who opposed desegregation? Who opposed women's rights? Who opposed the right to choose? Who opposed the tearing down of invasive laws such as sodomy laws? Which party would completely ignore the Establishment Clause, keeping government out of religion and religion out of government?

And the latest attempt to compare liberals to Hitler by the Bush administration is absolutely hilarious. Hitler, someone on the politically far RIGHT I might add, hated religious minorities and homosexuals. How could the Democrats, who fight for rights for both minority groups, be compared to the Nazi regime? Is it not the Republicans, who have historically fought against extending rights to minorities, that are more like the Nazis' ideology? It would seem that the far right of America would be closer to the far right of Nazi Germany than the far left. Sure, compare the far left to the socialist. That at least would be a little more intellectually responsible, however flawed it might be.

Our country is extremely diverse, and it is only becoming more so as time passes. We cannot have a government that oppresses the change brought about by diversification.

And as the environment goes, always remember which party has ties with the oil industry and the country of Saudi Arabia. If you really love wildlife and the outdoors, Bush and the Republican Party is not the direction in which your vote should be cast.

I'll leave you with a quote from a person conservative Republicans hold with utmost regard:

"God gave us the earth. We have dominion over the plants, the animals, the trees...God said, ‘Earth is yours. Take it. Rape it. It’s yours.’"

-- Ann Coulter
Hannity & Colmes, 6/20/01.

I believe the choice is clear, and I'd say anyone but Bush, but unfortunately, any vote besides Kerry will help Bush. I support having third parties, but this election, as was the last, will be too close to responsibly exercise the liberty of making a statement.

Think...then vote. Avoid reversing that order.

It is clear the Democratic Party is the party for those who cherish this planet and responsible rights of the individual.
Democrats for individual rights... now that's funny. Perhaps you have the Democrats confused with the Libertarians. Big government, a nanny state, weakened national defense, tax and spend- yes. Individual, or even states' rights- hardly.

This is for all of you republicans on this site who seem to cherish your special rights to keep these animals and carry your guns.
Yes, I do value my rights, especially those which have been affirmed by the Bill of Rights. Very few Democrats seem to grasp the concept of the rights affirmed by our founding fathers.

Why do you, in an almost mythological way, demonize liberals?
Perhaps it is because of the atrocious manner in which they act.

It is the liberals who will save you from yourselves...
That statement simply makes me want to vomit. Individual rights, but you'll save people from themselves. Uh huh. Oh I forgot, people can only exercise those rights sanctioned by someone else. After all, it's for their own good.

You cherish your animals and their habitats, but you vote for people who lack any such respect.
I vote for those who comprehend that a human's existance takes priority over that of an animal's.

How often do you turn on your TV and see a liberal hatefully bashing religious conservatives?
It seems to be a daily routine.

You point your fingers at liberals such as Michael Moore and say he is filled with hate, but how do you explain Fox's extremely brash and un-countered attacks on liberals or hateful conservative protesters to gay rights?
It is an irrefutable fact that Moore is both filled with hate as well as intellectually dishonest.

I'll answer your question with a rhetorical one of my own. Would you care to explain CNN, MSNBC, and NPR's slant to the left of center?

How do you explain the attempt by our President to put discrimination into our most cherished governing document?
A document so cherished that it's actually trampled on equally by both major parties. While I don't support ammending the Constitution, I also believe that there exists no right to same sex marriage.

Bush ran as compassionate, but has been nothing but the opposite, a divider who caters to the extremist right.
Speaking of intellectually dishonest, that was a patently false statement. With his rather liberal stances on various issues, Bush has alienated the "extreme right."

Liberals fight to preserve or evolve the rights of the individual for the individual's personal happiness.
See above. Evolve is a euphemism for dissolve.

Let's touch on the Democrats and civil rights for a moment, shal we?

It's interesting how throughout the latter two thirds of the twentieth century the Republican party had a better voting record on major civil rights issues. Come to think of it, wasn't it a Republican president who sent NG troops to Little Rock to enforce the SCOTUS Brown v Board of Education ruling? Oddly enough, the Court's ruling was vehemently opposed by former Democratic VP candidate John Sparkman.

Come to think of it, the Democrats couldn't even muster two thirds of their own party in the House to vote yes for the Civil Rights Act of 1964, whereas 79% of House Republicans voted yes. Now then, there was also an anti-rights filibuster going on in the Senate at this time. Funny how only 65.7% of the Democratic Senators voted to end the filibuster, while 81.8% of Republican Senators voted to end it and bring the Civil Rights Act to a vote.

Nowadays, the Democrats are embracing discrimination, but they're euphemistically calling it "affirmative action." Discrimination is discrimination no matter what color you paint it. Champions of civil rights my ass!

And the latest attempt to compare liberals to Hitler by the Bush administration is absolutely hilarious.
Hilarious in the regards, perhaps, that the Hitler footage was taken from a liberal ad which compared Bush to Hitler. The purpose of the ad is to show the liberal mindset.

Now then, I'll post more tomorrow. It's getting late and I've got things to do.

How do you figure Bush has alienated himself from the right. He wants to take away the choice of a woman to have an abortion, and says that because one human being is attracted to another of the same sex that that person is not allowed to have the same rights that heterosexual couples have.
You say that a humans existence takes priority over an animals. Do you realize that, while superior, we are animals in the grand scheme of life. If we keep destroying habitat we will only destroy ourselves in time. It may take a thousand more years, but it will happen. There are other methods of energy out there, but while big oil has the power and influence it does, its going to be a while.
While you guys make some valid points, why doesnt anyone talk about Bush and his down side. He skipped out on the Vietnam war. He thinks because hes the Pres he can do WHATEVER he wants in the name of terrorism. And noone questions it. This war will only create more terrorists and was begun by the administration telling lies. I cant wait until hes gone.

Thank You Zoo,

I was beginning to think I was the only one in here who wasn't camping on the dark side. I agree with everything you said, and I'd like to emphasize a few points you made.

Harbart, I'm sorry to break this to you, but you bleed just like every other animal on this planet. :( Unfortunately we're no more "special" than the next ape. Unique, yes, but not special. Don't let that big brain of yours cloud your judgment. ;) For some reason, I feel it is safe to assume you're not a fan of the Theory of Evolution and its many supporting spin-offs. Oh, and don't forget the fossils... They're a heart breaker. :)

I'm confident we'll, meaning the environmentally friendly, none-Bushiacs, will be in control soon. Bush is big oil and there's no way even our fellow right-winger Harbart can deny it.

Harbart, is your marriage threatened by gay couples loving each other and having the government, into which they also pay taxes, recognize that love? If so, I suggest counseling.

Also, don't try to shove the "affirmative action is discrimination" crap in our faces. I don't agree with it either, but I sure the hell can look over that when the Republicans are suppressing important scientific research (stem cell), attempting to put discrimination into the constitution, pulling out of the Kyoto treaty because it might hurt big business, wanting to drill in Alaska's refuge instead of pushing ahead with alternate fuel source research, making big space goals for NASA while refusing to increase funding to support those very goals (I'm a space buff, so don't get me wrong. I love the idea of going to Mars, but you need the funding to do it.), and creating more enemies while going after (a 2nd time) the guy that tried to kill Daddy. Osama bin who?

The amount of troops in Afghanistan is so pitiful, we might as well break the news to the poor bastards..."Well, you know those promises about funding your rebuilding that we made... Ya see, the thing is, we really can't afford it now with this whole Iraq situation. You're just going to have to do it on your own, and those tribes that don't like you...they're growing in strength. Good luck." What happened to the real war on terror? We've only opened up Iraq for the terrorist just as we thought we were closing the door on Afghanistan.

Harbart, I'll leave you to "exist" in your superiority over all us animals. And you're not fooling anyone about the rights issue. Every time there is something to do with extending civil rights to a part of our society, the Republicans, with the religious right at their side, are the opposition, and the Democrats, while sometimes too scared to really stand up strong enough for my tastes, are on the other side.

Exactly what issues do you speak of? His allowing of a meager amount of stem cell research to go forward instead of completely outlawing it? His all out support for the marriage amendment of which he spoke of at the Southern Baptist Convention (talk about ignoring the Establishment Clause)? His completely pulling out of the Kyoto treaty for big bussiness (which includes himself, the VP, the Bush family, and many others close to W)?

Bush isn't just in line with the right; he's in bed with it.

Atrocious way in which we act?!? I just love how you make these hard statements without the slightest explanations. Atrocious is the bigotry and ignorance that runs all too common among conservatives. Why do you think the least educated peoples of this country are by far conservative? Look at the South for example, we have some of the worst education systems in the country, and we are very much controlled by conservative republicans. It wasn't until the Democrats became the party that supported civil rights that the South began its move toward the Republican party, so that should tell you something. Where was slavery? Where was the Scopes Monkey trial? In the heart of conservative territory.

It is not that most conservatives are ignorant; it is that most ignorant people are conservative.

Harbart, I just wanted to tell you that you are always welcome back in with us humans. We're going ape to have you back. :)

Anyone..........Anyone!!! voting for Bush after seeing that press conference where he chastized the reporter for asking a question that wasn't "on the list" is just a complete........... no, I won't go there. People come on! He's the Pres. of the United F........ States! Shouldn't he at least be able to answer a question w/o getting it ahead of time?!?!? Plain and simple, Bush is not smart enough for the job. Kerry is about as exciting as boiled turnips, but at least the man has a brain in his head.

And as far as Republicans being morally superior to democrats, you might want to have a little talk with the VP and tell him to stop w/ the F bombs on the senate floor Ken.

ANYONE but Bush is my vote. By the way, I'm a registered Republican. My greatest fear is that Bush gets reelected, and then his brother, Govenor DUH!, takes a turn. By the time those two get done with our schools, we won't be able to compete w/ Mexico much less Japan.
