    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

I have tried all sorts of containers, bowls, dishes, etc and I am getting nuts here!:angry:
either the geckos knock the bowls over, or the mealworms can crawl out of the bowls and all over the cage, too tall for the geckos to get into ...you know the story. I am tired of trying homemade inventions and all that.. I am just going to get off my wallet and buy some...

What do you all use?
What on line company has the best stuff and best prices?

I saw those "Worm Feeders" by Hagen (I think) any thought??

Thanks Gang!

reply food dishes

i have food dishes for sale on this site. they are in the caging and enclosure section at the bottom on the first page under most popular ads. i use them for my bearded dragons and blue toungue skinks. one bts female is over 800 grams and can not tip them over. e-mail for pics [email protected]

I use ash trays from Wal-Mart

I use tealight candle holders and ramikens from wal mart. The ramikens work the best. The small ones are .50 cents and the large ones are .70 cents. I use the small ones for mealies and the large ones for supers. They work great. *The film canister is for size reference.*

Don't the mealworms and superworms crawl out of the ash trays? I swear I saw some at Walmart and thought about them..
I don't use supers, yes meal worms crawl out but on average its less than 1/3rd of the 20 or so I put in them so I don't mind much...

LOL
Ramekins are also called condiment cups. If you were to order a side sauce
( barbacue??) at a restaurant it would come in something similar. They are in the aisle with the measuring cups and misc. kitchen utensils at wal mart.

Wow Jeremy, thanks for the suggestion! I feed mainly silkies, so despite what container i put them in they can crawl out but usually my geckos eat them before i could think of putting them in a dish. But if i do offer mealies in dishes, i should try those!

I use petri dishes... those work well b/c my leos can see them easily and eat them up. The small mealworms aren't able to get out, but the big ones sometimes do coz they stretch out and curl so far.... but they're usually eaten once the leos see them hit the ground and wiggle :p

I use peanut butter lids, the votice holders like Jeremy's (2 for $1) and deli cups 4oz and 6oz 100 are like $10.

Thanks Jeremy

Had , no idea what ramekins where either . Usually get the 'condiment cups'(what we know them as LOL) at wallgeens but theyre more like $1.00 and only in one size . Small ! Oh well they make good water bowls for my juvis.

Now i know where to get the good ones . `Ya know i tried finding them in that store too , no luck .

Our adults get the bottom halves of soapboxes ,the type that have the lid and close up for whatever reason not too many mealies escape. Then the top part can be used for babies .

A whole 25 cents each for those at a local science surplus.

Then i also use both top and bottom of petris .

They will take Supers from my fingers so no dishes for those . They almost always get out of my dishes anyways.
