In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

A long time ago, in a state far, far away (unless you live in Alaska too) I bought an Exoterra fogger, but when I tried it out, it really was not what I expected. I kept it because the effect is pretty cool.

What kind of setups can/shouldn't you use a fogger in? A pet shop I worked in had one in a rivertank system that looked great and didn't need to be refilled every 5 min, but I never had the opportunity to take it apart and see how it worked.

If you have a cool set up with a fogger, can you post a pic?

What exactly did you expect?

I have an exo terra fogger. It is probably the best one I have ever purchased. It has lasted longer than any other fogger I have attempted to use. It produces fog. Does everything I ask of it.

Well, that's another thing... mine doesn't always produce fog. It only does when it wants to- even at the proper water levels. The little meniscus or whatever definately should not have to be replaced as I only used it about 2 times before it became temperamental.

I was expecting something that wouldn't eat up water by the gallon and heat that water to dangerously high levels (or produce as much fog as it did!) I also didn't expect to have to shield the animals from it.

I don't know about the quality of any other fogger. This is the only one I have ever seen.

I just was wondering how people use them in their terrariums since I've been rather unsuccessful in finding a use for mine.

I have one in my Horned frog tank and it has worked perfectly for two years without ever having to replace the disk (or whatever the technical term is for it). :)

You must clean the disk when it becomes corroded or it will not produce fog. Bottled drinking water seems to help keep that from happening as often. I clean it just like my coffee pot; soak it in white vinegar for about 15 min, rinse well and re-insert. I usually wind up cleaning it every third time I use it, so it is more sensitive than my eyes are as it generally doesn't look too bad when I do.

In the instructions for use it says not to use it for longer than "X" amount of time and to replace the disk after so many hours of use, blah-blah...I never follow the instructions anyway as I figure their job is to sell me parts and my job is to figure out how not to have to buy them- LOL!

Try cleaning/soaking the disk and see if that works for you. If it's not too corroded I'm sure you'll be happier with it when you do that.

Edit/addition: Mine is also behind a piece of cork-bark so my animal can't get to it. It looks awesome when the fog rolls down the bark. I'll try and get pics soon.

I tried using one for my Mountain Horned Dragon setup, the fogger burnt out in two days, and even replacing the little replacement membrane didn't seem to fix it. I'd love to try and get another one someday, but they're fairly expensive
