Rick went through the trouble of tracking me down because he knew from a previous email I sent him that I was looking for a pair of het boas. I received the boas back on the 28th, and Rick has contacted me again today to check on the snakes. All things considered, I'll be doing business with him again next season.

Are you and Rick friends?

Are you and Rick friends? So what if he went back to old emails, he wanted to make a sale. I've heard he isn't always a good guy. Buyer Beware!

Tom,
To answer you're question; no, Rick Crew and I are not "friends"' per se. I have never met the man in person, and know him only through a couple telephone calls and emails. What has impressed me the most is his customer service, both before and after the sale. It would have been far more convenient to simply repost the animals. However, he took the time to go through some old contacts to find me. Also, even a month after the sale, he still follows up to make sure that I am still happy with the animals that I received from him.

As for the "bad things" that you've heard about him, my guess would be you're referring to comments made by Chen Lai and Cobalt Reptiles. I would seriously consider the source as being dubious on this one. Cobalt posted this information on kingsnake after Rick called them about a dbl het for snow boa that they claimed he produced. They were advertising the snake on kingsnake.com, claiming that it was produced by Rick Crew. Funny thing is, he hadn't sold any of his double hets yet. A week or so after he called them on it, they posted ads on kingsnake claiming that he sells snakes that are infested with mites and that he doesn't stand behind what he sells.

If you don't wish to accept my word on it, you can check with others, such as Bill Horn from Briar Patch Herps, or even go through the archives of the boa forum on kingsnake. I'm sure that you will find that everyone has had nothing but positive things to say about Rick Crew.

Well, you've just proved my point. Otherwise how would you know such details if you weren't friends.
Buyer Beware!

Tom,

If you have any facts or personal knowledge to share, please do so.

Please name names and circumstances, not hearsay or anonymous rumors.

Just express the facts that YOU know for certain and let the readers form their own opinions.

Thanks.

Ken...

Here are some facts for you:

1) Rick Crew had sold 10 DH for Striped Snow boas prior to Cobalt Reptiles advertising one for sale. I have dated receipts to prove it.

2) Both myself and my brother-in-law have received mite-infested snakes from Rick Crew.

3) This year I bought almost $40,000 worth of snakes from Rick Crew. I have dated receipts and cancelled checks to prove this. Rick Crew has treated me so badly that I will shortly be filing a lawsuit against him. I will post the facts (to date) for you in a separate posting. Please look above for this posting.

Nigel.

I will keep my eye out for it. If you can substatiate your claims, I will lend full credence to them. As the webmaster has said, if Tom has any facts to share, other than demonstrating logical fallacies by making erroneous claims about me, I'd be happy to hear them. Using the same faulty logic that he displayed by claiming that I must be Rick Crew's friend, one can then infer that most of the people on this forum must be Kathy Love's and Rich Zuchowski's friends.

My experience buying from Rick Crew has been a good one. I received healthy, mite-free snakes in a timely manner. Based upon my own personal experience, I would have no problem buying from him again.

Hi Ken...

The information is posted. I have full documentation.

I spent almost $40,000 with Rick since March of this year. When we approached Rick with what we believe is a problem affecting his entire litter of DH for Striped Snows, my wife and I were maligned up one side and down the other by Rick. I have spoken with others who have had problems with animals purchased from Rick Crew, and they experienced similar excuses and treatment.

I am certain that a flurry of e-mails from anonymous, blind e-mail addresses will soon surface supporting Rick and stating what a wonderful person he is. I have personally seen him take this approach before when BOAWORKS advertised 3 ghost boas for $8,500 (or around there) earlier this year. Rick used many different blind e-mails to post derrogatory comments about Tim McBride and BOAWORKS on the Kingsnake Forum. I believe it was Jeremy Stone who uncovered what Rick was doing by contacting the web support staff at Kingsnake.

Rick will treat you well as long as you continue to purchase from him and do not experience problems.

Ken...

If you want more evidence:
I posted a "BUYER BEWARE" listing on the Kingsnake Boa Forum with a link to this site. That listing has already been removed.

I HAVE DELT WITH HIM BEFORE AND HE WAS VERY NICE AND HE EVEN GAVE ME THE TOUR OF HIS FACILITY AND THEN I BOUGHT A NICE COLUMBIAN THAT WAS IN PERFECT HEALTH. I DEFINATLY RECCOMEND HIM TO ANYONE WHO WANTS THE HIGHEST QUALITY ANIMALS.
