My defense

Never thought I would have to defend myself, but since I had a threatening email message (first one) I thought I would nip this off before it started. A person that goes by the email name "XxWULVExX" recently threatened to post a message here regarding a recent incident. I had posted for sale on Kingsnake.com a Sumatran water monitor that I inherited (after already purchasing a real nice one from Pro Exotics and I did not need two) and wanted to relocate him to a good home. My intent was to give this guy a way and I put a price tag of $95 (which I stated included the shipping) to try to weed out the bunch. I stated that he did have an attitude and never claimed that this guy was tame as indicated by XxWULVExX (I had mentioned that this monitor had some healing wounds from the time that he was dropped off at our facility, and mentioned that he needed some work but felt that he had lot's of potential....I still feel that way). After this ad, I received 43 email messages from interested parties, and I sold it to somebody that expressed strong interest and who was willing to put the time into this lizard (she has told me that I also never in the least bit hinted that this animal was tame in the ad). I did not hear back from this person immediately and I then posted another ad stating every character flaw possible (tail whipping, biting, etc, everything that I also relayed to the would be buyer after the first ad...no misreperesentation at all). After the second post I got 30+ email messages from interested parties at which time I received a very threatening email message from "XxWULVExX" who said that I misrepresented this animal (that I was virtually giving away for free) and that he would post a message here. This person never received the animal and was told that the animal was already sold to somebody else (same message that all of the other interested parties received from me via email). Hard to believe I actually have to defend myself over a transaction that never directly involved this person. If I wanted to make a buck off this Sumatran water monitor, I certainly would not have ended up selling it for $65 which included the shipping, or offered it to the first would be buyer for shipping cost and then for this person to reimburse me for whatever they thought this animal was worth AFTER they received it (and I told this person they were under NO obligation to give me any additional money for the animal....my main intention was to find a good home and not incur a shipping cost to deliver the animal). Well, hopefully this addresses the matter before it starts and I would be glad to have the direct parties involved with this transaction to give their two cents worth. I have always treated my customers very fairly, have always honestly represented my animals, and I have never received a threatening message....maybe I am over reacting but when you do what's right and then get slammed for it....it's a little disheartening. Sorry to ramble.

I have purchased two pairs of snakes from Chris, and I could not be happier with them. I fully expect to purchase more in the future. It's pretty sad that Chris has to defend himself against this extortion.

Well, I have tried to write this over three times now, and can't seem to get the point out enough so heres the condensed version-Chris is one of the great guys in this hobby. His willingness to help is unmathed by most. I have seen his facility, and it is very well maintained. All of his animals are spectacular specimens! Pretty easy to keep things in good condition though when reptiles is all you do, BUT that isn't the case with Chris. He is a parent of 5?(too many to count), a professor at a Christian College, a student working on even MORE degrees, and every thing else that comes up in everyday life. I just feel it was ridiculous that Chris had to even go through this. Thats all we need is to run more of the good guys off due to trouble makers. Well, like I said, I can't get it across in typing what a great guy Chris has been(is). THANKS FOR ALL YOU'VE DONE CHRIS!

I am humbled by the nice words. I just received an email message from the person that left me the threatening email message apologizing for the mishap. He apparently mixed up my ad with somebody else's ad. An honest mistake and therefore I just wanted to set the situation straight and thank this person for being honest about their mistake.
