I purchased a pair of Black Milksnakes from Al Zulich at the MARS show in September, and they are awesome snakes. I had put down a deposit on them about 2 months before I picked them up. He had some problems getting the male to eat frozen thawed, was taking live no problems. He offered me two choices A. he would hold on to the pair until the male was feeding on f/t, then send them to me at his expense, or B. I could pass on the pair and he would refund my deposit. Needless to say I passed on both offers and took them as they were and I am very glad that I did. He was also kind enough to take the time and show me how to sex snakes at the MARS show. He will certainly be getting repeat business from me one of these days. |

Kudos to Billie Zulich, too... more (Currently 0 replies)
Posted At 14:55:47 11/23/2000 When I got my first leopard gecko about 2 years ago, I had more questions than all my books talked about (like behaviors, etc) and Billie talked to me on the phone for an hour about so many things, gave me such wonderful advice and I could really tell that they have a true love for the animals they breed. I would never hesitate to order from them, and I know people who have and have been very satisfied with the animals. THAT, in my opinion, is the definition of a great breeder, willing to give a lot of advice even before purchasing. Sounds like you got the same great treatment, Josh :) |

Posted At 16:55:24 02/06/2001 I've read many good references regarding Harford and became a customer myself a year ago. My experience was not a good one.(BAD ) I brought leopard geckos. I called and spoke with Al via the phone indicating what I was looking for. The ad on his Web site states they have incorporated Hi Yellow into their leucistics and that they are more beautiful than ever. He was very informative beforehand. Seemed friendly, in hindsight it was just to make the sale ...like a used car salesman. My leos that arrived were healthy but truly not hi yellow or even low yellow. They were the ugliest leucistics I have seen. A dark, dark brown. I brought them to a reptile show and fellow herps agreed with me. I have brought much nicer looking leos at my local pet shop. I tried working this out over the internet with Al and found him to be a prudish snob saying they probably don't look the best right now and and no leucistics look the one he had pictured. Well then why show one and sell something else? Rather than help solve my problem he keep telling me how great he was and how everyone else likes his animals. Well..here is one who doesn't and is stuck with it. I'll never order from him again regardless of how great he thinks he is. I also found a fellow herp in WA. who had a similiar problem with them but just wrote off the loss. |

Posted At 18:51:34 02/06/2001 Sorry for the re-posting but my subject title was incorrect ..it just carried over from the previous contributor. My case is above...ugly leos that are misrepresented. Difficult to deal with if you are unsatified with Leos. I felt animals I received were of a very low quality regarding color, genetics..not what was pictured or discussed on phone....although phone conversation was positive....so be cautious. Pompous attitude after sale. Remember you can't take it back to the store...regardless of guarantee! |

Posted At 21:04:46 02/25/2001 I can't speak for how he handles problems, (because I didn't have any). I have bought two Jungle carpet pythons from him that I am THRILLED with. I have bought 15 snakes in the last year, and both seperate instances that I purchased from him, were the most painless. It was direct door to door shipping "Airborne" so I didn't have to deal with Delta or other stressful methods. The packaging was IMPECCABLE. The animals were very healthy and alert and eating well. Out of the 15 purchases, these were the best samples of customer service I have received ANYWHERE in the last several years. This kind of service is sorely lacking these days so please don't report issues unless this is truly the case. As for the "Used car salesman" I found him to be extremely helpful- regardless of whether I bought from him or not (precisely why I did -and why I came back) Just my HONEST assesment ! -Eric... |
