Gary Hardin (GREAT GUY)

Hi,
I have read the post on why people think Gary Harid is this "horrible" guy but trust me that’s just one side to the story. I'm sure who ever wrote the post has their own reasons not to like him but I just want to offer another side of the story. In March I received a bearded dragon from Gary and let me tell you he did all he could to make sure this baby dragon would arrive safely to my home. He kept in contact with me to make sure I would be home when the dragon was delivered, he kept tabs on the weather in my area to make sure conditions were right to ship the bearded dragon, and he answered all of my questions I had regarding this dragon. I couldn’t have been more pleased with the service. I also know others who have bought dragons from Gary and have recommended him to me and others if they wanted to buy from a creditable breeder. He devotes his time to making sure the dragons he has are healthy and happy and that the buyer is happy with the dragon they bought. He loves to receive pictures of dragons bought from him to see how things are and is very picky on what dragons he does sell (making sure they are healthy and ready to be sold)
In regards to his site I have this to say…. if it weren’t for his site and the people, including himself, on that site, I probably would have lost my other bearded dragon. He got sick in December and not knowing what was wrong I decided to visit his site and ask a couple questions. I was amazed at the response I got from people, including Gary. They were all more then willing to help me out and give me advise on what I should do with my sick beardie. Following both their advise and the advise from my vet (both gave me the same information) my bearded dragon is still alive and healthy. He turned one a couple months ago, something my vet wasn’t sure he was going to do. I give most of the credit to Gary and others that visit his site because I sure did not know what was wrong with my beardie. As far as being banned for posting links to other sites, I posted a link to the vandivers website and I was not banned from his site. He did express that he really did not want links posted of sites he disapproved of, which is his choice. I don’t know the reasons behind why he has problems with some web sites and frankly it’s none of my business but I was never banned from his site just for that reason. I’m not saying that some people don’t have a problem with Gary but they seem to be more personal problems then anything else. He is a great bearded dragon breeder and had a very informative web site, which he is always updating. Before making snap judgments on him please just visit the site for yourself and I am sure you will see that he isn’t the horrible person that some people think he is.

Although I have never purchased dragons from gary I have purchased other items and found him to be easy to work with.

What I dont understand is where you read he was thought of as "horrible". I looked all the way down the site for posts regarding him and found none. Did I miss something?

Cindy,
They must have erased it. It was on here just a little bit ago. I know some people (dunno if they run this site) were mad that someone was posting personal problems. There were two comments made about how they were banned from the site and how bad he was. Like I said it seemed to be personal problems they had and not problems deeling with purchasing idems/dragons from him.

The previous thread was deleted because I felt that the discussion of other message boards and how someone may decide to run them is not particularly relevant to the information THIS message board is designed to provide.

Jessica - you may want to note my requirements about a FULL NAME as well as a valid email address. I don't have time to give out many warnings, so you might want to heed this one REAL SOON before your thread vanishes as well.

I missed the post where someone was complaining about whatever irked them about the rules of Gary's website, but I have the answer for Jessica's question about why posts to some breeders, suppliers, webpages are deleted, etc.

Actually, I asked Gary that once myself, and he explained that it is his feeling that if a breeder, supply vendor, etc. is listed on his site by anyone as being recommended, many people tend to think that the recommendation either comes from or is endorsed by him. Just like everyone who has lots of dragons, he has had (as a buyer) both good and bad experiences with a wide variety of people, but there are also some he doesn't know.

He can't, in good conscience, endorse sellers and companies that he has had negative experiences with, nor does he wish the responsibility of even appearing to endorse sellers he has no knowledge of. He does have several pages on his site with recommendations for sellers he has had positive experiences with. Personally, I find that sort of serious responsibility and concern for buyers quite refreshing and helpful.

As for him as a breeder...though I've known him a long time, I only got a dragon from him recently, and I do have to say, in all honesty, that it is by far the most beautiful, healthy and sweet dragon I have. She is also the only dragon I've ever seen that gets noticably even more colorful almost every single day. I know that sounds ridiculous, but it's true. She was gorgeous right out of the shipping box, and is now a knockout, even though she's still very young.

Like Jessica, Gary kept in close contact with me before, during and after shipping, and he even called me the day she arrived to make sure she got here safely before I even had time to call him. lol He has also kept in touch to check on her frequently since, and gone way out of his way to help me with a troublesome new baby I didn't even get from him.

He is by far the best breeder I've ever dealt with, both in terms of the best dragons and as the most responsible, consciencious and honest person to deal with. If all breeders were like him, there would be no need for the "Bad Guy" aspect of this site. : )

I have to apologize to everyone whom has posted in this thread because it is likely going to be deleted by midnight tonight (06/07). Jessica has not responded to my request to provide her full name, as per the clearly stated rules.

I don't normally give second warnings, but since I deleted the first thread about Gary Harding because of a similar violation, I think the people posting these threads are suffering a reading comprehension deficiency and I'm trying to overcompensate with redundancy in my warnings.
