Could you give a little more info?

There is a Richard Richey (sp?) that lives near me that is known as the reptile man locally. He does shows for schools and such.

Does this sound like him?

Rich is a buddy of mine, and I have done business with him more times than I can count, as well as witnessed several of his dealings. He is a straight-up, honest guy that won't steer you wrong. Plus, that's a nice boa and he takes excellent care of his animals.

Another tidbit here, is that he isn't another backyard "dealer". He's a hobbyist and an educator. That has got to mean something in this mess of over-saturated markets and dime-bag herp dealers.

He's one of the good guys.

If this is the Richard from Oregon that I know, then Jeff is absolutely right. The man knows his stuff.

On another note, I've met some very dedicated, honest and trust worthy herpers who keep their animals in thier backyards.

Good point Clint. I dodn't mean to offend anyone out there. But you may have also noticed my point in that if the facility is shoddy, so shall the business be. Hole-in-the-wall dealers usually do hole-in-the-wall business.

I often wonder if many crappy dealers are in this business because it is one of the most forgiving businesses out there, and one of the easiest to get into. Obviously, one doesn't have to be intelligent or honest to deal large quantities of live animals.

Unfortunate for the animals. At least Rich is one of the good guys.
