A warning about messages violating the rules

Author Subject: A warning about messages violating the rules

My time is getting less and less available to spend much time patrolling the threads on this message board. So it's quite possible that someone may begin a thread while ignoring the rule s about using a full name and valid email address. Unfortunately, other people obeying the rules may reply to this thread and it's quite possible it could get quite lengthy before I would get around to noticing it.

Please be warned that it is MUCH easier for me to delete an entire thread rather than individual messages in a thread. As such, with my limited time, I may very well decide to delete the entire thread, regardless of the direction it has taken and the number of messages in it. I have been very lenient about this in the past, but I've got higher priority things to do right now.

So if you notice a thread that is started by someone violating the rules, it will be in your best interests to just IGNORE it and not post a responding message in the thread. I certainly do hate for anyone to waste their time, but that's likely to be exactly what will happen.

If you want to post a message in the thread warning the person that started the thread about their violation, please feel free to do so if you feel the thread is worthwhile retaining. As long as the originator complies before I get to see it and delete it, then I will let it remain.

And by the way, just because someone else has gotten away with posting a message in violation of the rules does not grant anyone the right to do the same. I reserve the right to be inconsistent if that's the way my time and workload dictates my actions.

Thanks......

Hi Rich-

If you need a second person (Ie. helping hand) and you trust someone to help monitor the board I am available to help.

take care,
Jordan

And another thing....

The original intent of this board was to have an individual thread concerning a particular person or business, with all messages pertaining to the subject being in one place. Obviously this is not working out that way. But it certainly does waste bandwidth when a new message is posted starting a new thread when a previous thread concerning the subject is only a dozen or so lines down the page. No matter what the good intentions, I will still be deleting those orphan messages whenever I find them. If an issue has been resolved, or you have new information to add, please post a reply message to an existing thread whenever possible. It helps keep the subject matter continuous and reduces the chances that someone will have to look all over the place to find additional threads about the subject at hand.

Thanks.

Jordan - thanks for the offer. I think the best way to handle this at this point is to ask for you or anyone else that notices blatant violations to just notify me via email about them. I do let some of them slide, because the fix would make things worse in some cases. At this point I think it is best to keep the responsibility solely on my shoulders.

Just for the record here, a business name is NOT a full name. You can provide both if you want to, but at the very least your full name must be provided for every pro/con message placed here.

In an effort to cut down the size of this page, I will be trying to spend some time going back through old messages deleting those threads that violate this rule. I know this is sort of an ex post facto treatment of my rules, so I will try to use good judgement in those threads I decide to delete. The effort will be to clean up the mess without throwing the baby out with the wash.

Thanks.
