I had worked out a trade with Tim McDaniel. I'd send him a breeding trio of solomon island ground boas, and he'd ship to me 5 desert box, and 5 ornate box turtles. He told me he only ships on mondays and its 2nd day priority mail. I shipped the snakes out on thursday and he got them friday morning, i checked with the fed ex tracking #. I emailed him friday to see if he got the snakes..i got no responce. I emailed him everyday up until the day (wednesday) i was supposed to get he turtles. I never heard from him. I never got the turtles as promised.
I posted a warning to to everyone one the classifieds where i found him not to do business with him and explained why.
I got an email from some guy Ken, Tim's friend i guess. It said tim had gone on vacation. he never told me he was going anywhere. he made a deal he knew he wasn't going to keep and screwed me big time. I emailed this Ken back, and he doesn't answer my emails either. I hope nobody else gets screwed like those of us who already have.

i swear along with all the normal ?'s you have to ask someone when do a trade or buying, i think "are you going on vacation" should also be included. i had 3 people in a row do that to me. luckly it worked out(after they got back). but please, people going on vacation should tell you before they get you money not after.

I hate to be redundant, but as posted previously with similar situations, when you trade, include an invoice for the value of the animals. If the recepient does not keep his end of the bargain, its a sale, if he ships his trade item, then all should be well. The problem is that people believe that a trade has no cash value and therefore you cannot sue him, but by providing an invoice it puts the receiver on notice that your animals do have a cash value and he will be liable for the invoice amount. I would bill this bum, and threaten him with a lawsuit, forget the fact that he went on vacation, such nonesense !

Leslie, I am not the Ken you talked about in your post, and I am very sorry you got screwed, but in my opinion I would not do business with anyone who says they take two days to ship their herps. For God's sake! It is the middle of the summer! Granted, all of my experience is with snakes, and not turtles, but I have no reason to think that turtles wouldn't die from overheating as well as snakes. I am not dogging you out, God knows I've been screwed myself, but that would have really sent up a red flag for me. Again, I am sorry for your misfortune, and wish you success in you future purchases. Your post has worked for me though, and I would not buy from this guy ever. Thanks for your time.

I am living proof that turtles can die as easily as snakes...lol I had a trio of Alligator Snappers sent to me and the stupid UPS driver left them outside at another place because he couldn't find my place. I called and called and called UPS and gave some good ass chewings, and finally they got ahold of the driver and he got them to me about 3:00 p.m. after they sat from about 9:00 a.m. in the heat. All three turtles were near death and two survived and one died!
Anyway...luckily the person I got them from is going to replace the turtle for me.
