Hello all i just wanted to let everyone know, if you have been in prehistoric pets in fountain valley there store is SAD! They have a 4 foot argus monitor in there with NO heat, And barely ANY SUBSTRATE!!! I'd say the cage it was in is about 3 1/2 foot. it cant even extend its whole body! Animals in there were covered in feces, the whole store smelt like amonia. I went in one room and they had red tails in there WITH NO HEAT, NO HEAT AT ALL I WAS SO PISSED! One of the cages was slightly open, i grabbed in there to feel how cold the red tail was and he was very cold, wasnt active at all. The day i was in there they had some milksnakes, and they had about 5 mice in the cage that had no heat or light for the milks. And listen to THIS! One of the milks went after a mouse, bit the other milksnake and coiled around it and was suffocating it!! I told one of the guys that works there and he said " oh, hahaha, they will be fine" yeah right i swear the thing was dead when i left! Its a sad sad place, leopard geckos with bone thin tails, womas that wernt shedding right with shed and feces all in cage... etc etc etc. Also when he was feeding the blutongues they had them in bark chunks and it was eating the bark while trying to get crickets!! I am being honest, i did not see ONE healthy clean animals in there besides the baby burms which were probably recent arrivals. I bet their freezer is packed full of dead animals every day. We need to get people like this shut down and out of the reptile business.

I agree! I posted about some baby Bolivians I went to look at a while back. They were FULL of mites......and the other animals I saw were in sad shape as well.

Serious question to anyone who knows: What steps can be taken to either shut Prehistoric down, or kick 'em in the a$$ enough to clean up their act? I'm willing to help....I see these posts over and over about these guys and they are not hiding or hard to find.....and I KNOW that they know their animals are not healthy.....it's NOT a lack of knowledge.....it's a lack of CARING. They apparently just don't give a damn!

They have been called in the past (a friend and I called them
on the store in 1998 or 1999...), they sent a rep down there,
supposedly told the owners what needed to be fixed (at that
time there were ants in some cages and broken glass on a
few...that was taken care of luckily)... but that was the
last I heard about it. That store could be so great...
Mites seem to be a constant problem there, but they do get
in a lot of WC animals. (this is the store in FV, never been
to the one in chico) They have some beautiful animals in there
and one of the few places to see full sized burms, retics,
durms, etc... it's sad sometimes their conditions aren't
as good as they could be...

I went into their store and saw the ball pythons water it was full of dirt and the snake was trying to soak in it to hydrate but it couldnt :( it was dehydrated. I think people like this need to be shut down!

I have been in their store on a couple of occasions, AND WILL NOT GO BACK! The store has large herps in very small cages, and when I was in there, they had adult green iguanas in cages the size of like 30 gallon aquariums, and for $300!!!!! The poor animals will be there forever. On our way out to our car, my wife told me she will never go back in there, felt sorry for the animals, and is questioning keeping reptiles now....................I would not even buy feeders there.
