    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

hello this is my first time posting here as i just found the site. and i'm happy i did, wow a place with more than two postings for pits! imagine that! well this is my dilemma i recently aquired a snake from this fella that didn't know anything about it, hold on all! i already have multiple snakes and i am confident this is a pit species and can provide the proper care for it. my conundrum is that as i am unfamiliar with this species i don't know which subspecies it is. i have googled and reptile search engined this to death and now have a severe case of information overload happening! perhaps i missed something that a more experienced pit owner could help me with in the identification of subspecies. any help with this matter will be greatly appreciatted. and now i found the site perhaps i can help others as well with my experiences

There are certainly people more knowledgeable than me, but my vote is that you have a great looking bull snake (Pituophis catenifer sayi).

Congratulations!

I agree with Dean. That appears to be a nice bullsnake. They have a very large range and can be quite variable in appearance. (they occur as far south as TX and as far north as Canada.)
They're great snakes and make excellent pets. They do get quite large though. Here's a pretty cool website to check out...

Enjoy your new pet.
