Personality = Temperment

What I was saying was that since nothing is born tame tameness has no bearing on genetics, personality/basic temperament or inheritance. Nor does intelligence.

Learned behavior and basic temperament are two different things.

I believe that basic temperament is genetic, though it can be influenced by environment in times of stress an animal will revert back to it's basic temperament. I don't think that it being a reptile in question invalidates this.

Take hognoses for an example, they're genetically predisposed to play dead when threatened, ball pythons ball up; they both are genetically disposed towards passivity. As humans, when we refer to something being nice what we actually mean is passive or not aggressive.

Even fish have genetic temperaments and if it's genetic it can be bred for.
