Need more shows here. I think it depends on where you are. I always see a show in Pa, but never within an hour of my location.

I stopped going to shows, not only because of some lax husbandry rumors I've been hearing, but because there just wasn't any sort of variation in what any of the sellers had for sale. It's bad when I can walk out of the room and haven't seen anything I just have to have. (Serious impulse shopper here.) Three hours driving each way to come home empty handed when I had intended to buy something is too much. IMO, there are way too many shows in the areas I can reach - Pgh, etc. A show oughta be something you look forward to for a while, save your money because you know there will be something interesting there that you will just have to buy when you see it. Sellers are spread so thinly here that there's just not much interesting stuff left to go around.

One show, a couple times a year, and make it something both buyers and sellers look forward to. Travel will be involved for most to attend, but make it worth it.

My two cents.

^ i agree. Just went to a show a few weeks ago here in Orlando and besides convincing my neighbor that he should get into the hobby there really wasn't anything there for me. ( aside from a massive bag of aspen) The only shows where i see anything different are the FIRE expo and the big show in Daytona.

One of the promoters here in Kentucky had been staging monthly shows about a half hour away from me through the end of 2010. Starting this month the show is on the road, hitting a lot of smaller towns and cities around the state.

While this is good for the hobby by exposing and introducing new people to reptiles and amphibians, and great for the sellers by bringing in new customers, I already miss the monthly expo. It was nice knowing that once a month I could stock up on feeders, supplies and new snakes without paying shipping or wondering if they were in stock this week.

Now I have to wait for April, and then October, before they come within two and a half hours of here.
