The Spiny Neck Monitor! This species is very underrated. They stay relatively small (4.5'), so they don't need a HUGE enclosure. They eat a huge variety of prey, including roaches, crickets, rodents, fish, birds, and crustaceans, and best of all...They are friendly! This species is VERY reluctant to ever bite, so it is a great monitor to work with hands-on. In addition to this, they look very similar to the infamous Crocodile Monitor, but don't come with the size or high price tag. Overall, an awesome species to keep if you're looking for something hardy, smaller, and easy to handle.
