We are pleased to offer
Blaberus Craniifer, commonly referred to as the Death Head roach.
These are the larger "Heirloom" roach variety known as the University of California Riverside strain. (UCR) These were sourced from a very reputable, and long time keeper, so you can be assured there has been no cross breeding within the Blaberus genus nor within the two known strains. We have been breeding them for about 4 years now and haven't seen any "hybrids".
The Death Head roach can be found naturally in Mexico, the West Indies, and Central America. It has also been introduced into southern Florida in the United States making them legal to buy and sell in the state of Florida.
They can be found on forest floors, hiding in leaf matter and rotting wood. They can be kept "bio-actively" mimicking their natural habitat in a display tank. Or many keepers house them in setups similar to Dubia with egg flats and such.
The nymphs grow to a pretty good size before maturing into adults at approximately 2.5" in length, and make a good feeder as the nymphs grow quickly and into a robust size. The jet black wings coupled with the orange design on their pronotum, makes it clear why they were given such a devilish name.
Fed on fresh fruits and vegetables, along with our pesticide free roach chow, you'll find them to be easy to care for. They don't climb smooth surfaces nor do they fly, although they will flutter and glide a bit if thrown in the air.
We are currently offering 50 mixed nymphs, which will include many larger than 1" examples but no babies, for 45.00 shipped.
So if you are looking for a robust feeder or a unique pet, why not add some character to your reptile, roach, and isopod collection...the UCR Death Head will make a fine addition and will draw the reluctant interest of all your friends....Ahhhhhhahahahahah (scary laughter)
