Please note that the information requested during registration will be used to determine your legitimacy as a participant of this site. As such, any information you provide that is determined to be false, inaccurate, misleading, or highly suspicious will result in your registration being rejected. This is designed to try to discourage as much as possible those spammers and scammers that tend to plague sites of this nature, to the detriment of all the legitimate members trying to enjoy the features this site provides for them.
Of particular importance is the REQUIREMENT that you provide your REAL full name upon registering. Sorry, but this is not like other sites where anonymity is more the rule.
Also your TRUE location is important. If the location you enter in your profile field does not match the location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected. As such, I strongly urge registrants to avoid using a VPN service to register, as they are often used by spammers and scammers, and as such will be blocked when discovered when auditing new registrations.
Sorry about all these hoops to jump through, but I am quite serious about blocking spammers and scammers at the gate on this site and am doing the very best that I can to that effect. Trust me, I would rather be doing more interesting things with my time, and wouldn't be making this effort if I didn't think it was worthwhile.

Advice and Recommendations on Radient Heat Panels
One of my snakes just suffered a thermal burn from the UTH heat mat.
I would like to change over to something safer and more effective.
I am giving serious consideration to the radiant heat panels.
I tried a search but did not get what I needed to know from what has already been posted.
This is what I want to know.
Anyone here use them?
Do they provide a hot zone/basking spot and ambient heat.
I want to install them in the ceilings. Feasible or not?
Are they mounted flush or suspended?
Are they safer, or can they cause burns?
How do the panels tolerate humidity?
Who would you recommend buying from?
Thanks for the input.

Anyone here use them? I have several in use, in a couple of different cage sizes
Do they provide a hot zone/basking spot and ambient heat. yes
I want to install them in the ceilings. Feasible or not? IN or ON? Mounting on the ceiling of the enclosure is the way to do it
Are they mounted flush or suspended? you can screw them or bolt them to the ceiling (which one depends on the construction material), or suspend them. IF you suspend them, be aware that the animal can climb on top
Are they safer, or can they cause burns? They are safer, but if the animal has a means to rest with its body in contact with the panel it can still cause a burn
How do the panels tolerate humidity? that depends on which brand you buy
Who would you recommend buying from? http://www.pro-products.com [They have a variety of different panels sizes & will haelp you pick the best ones for your needs. ProHeat radiant panels do well in high humidity environments. They also do not have the "lip" that some other brands have, which allow the animal to curl up around/rest on the panel

I"ve heard great things about the radiant heat panels from Pro Products. Just keep in mind that they are not the holy grail and if you don't properly control your temps with a tstat or at least a rheostat, you are asking for trouble.

Thanks for the replies. I feel better armed with information now and am convinced that RHPanels are the way to go.
I had checked out ProHeat at their site. And endorsement coming from someone here goes a long way to instilling trust in a business for me. They make some fantastic claims regarding performance and longevity.
I shall be screwing/bolting them onto the ceilings of each cage. The snakes will not be able to make physical contact with them unless they can climb and cling to walls like flies. If this proves to be the case I will be sure to post pictures of the phenomenon.

Ask Bob bout using a Johnson Controls with his panels, he recommends them. They do make some good claims about there product and the good thing is it will do what they say it will do or they will refund your money or get the the right panel if the size/wattage you have isint doing exactly what your wanting it to
