Eggs , need some help

Okay the kids brought home a couple of wild skinks.I put them in a 20 gallon and they mated..I found eggs today when I went in to seperate the male out because I hadnt seen the female and was worried he wasnt letting her come out to bask or eat. I didnt touch the eggs but put the rock carefully back down...She has them under the rock pile below the basking light...How moist should I keep it? I didnt count the eggs as she wasnt to happy with me looking at her or the eggs but Im guessing near 8 or 9(these eggs are huge for this little female to have had all of them, poor thing).Any suggestions?
Basking rock is a piece of slate it is 90 degrees steady during the day but the light goes off at night and I dontknow what night time temps are.She also has a reptisun uvb flourescent bulb but it doesnt really put out heat..

A lot of the female North American skinks in the genus Eumeces actually brood their eggs. I'm not sure how necessary this is (do the eggs need to be turned / repositioned regularly by the female?). I'd recommend leaving the female with the eggs. Try to keep the substrate damp but not wet and disturb them as little as possible. Maybe add water by one side of the rock, this way she can position the eggs on one side or the other depending on how damp she wants them. You may need to monitor soil moisture daily since basking lights can dry things out quickly.

Good luck!

Thats kinda what Id thought so Ive been misting the cage every morning since I found them.I also put a 40watt CHE on the cage at night so it stays warm. Thanks for your response..I wonder how long it will take for them to hatch if I can help her keep them alive.

Yes, the female will brood them. She will rotate them and protect them. Make sure she gets plenty of food and they will hatch within 40-50 days.
