Question Can you find the gender of my Redfoots?

I recently got two red foot tortoises from a friend, and we aren't sure of the gender or age of either of them. Or if you can't tell from the pictures, help me find out how?

Alex what size are they.If they are on the larger end then the size of the tail would be the best way to sex them.Males have a very long tail and females will have a short tail.Ron

Redfoot tortoises are often difficult to determine the gender of until they are about half to three quarters grown. Some show much earlier but as a whole they can be difficult. A male will be obvious in comparison. It will have a tail that is much thicker overall and usually longer with the anal opening farther out from the body. A female will have a tail that is thick at the base but much shorter with the anal opening closer to the body. It's difficult to tell anything from you photos because they are too far away. A close up would be needed of the tail areas and the approximate SCL of the tortoises.

Alex your tortoises seem to be pyramiding badly. try correcting their diet (more greens, and fruits) soak at least twice a week and keep a high humidity level in their enclosure.
