Hero Chihuahua Saves Toddler From Rattlesnake
Sunday , July 22, 2007

MASONVILLE, Colo.

Zoey is a Chihuahua, but when a rattlesnake lunged at her owners' 1-year-old grandson, she was a real bulldog.

Booker West was splashing his hands in a birdbath in his grandparents' northern Colorado back yard when the snake slithered up to the toddler, rattled and struck. Five-pound Zoey jumped in the way and took the bites.

"She got in between Booker and the snake, and that's when I heard her yipe," said Monty Long, the boy's grandfather.

The dog required treatment and for a time it appeared she might not survive. Now she prances about.

"These little bitty dogs, they just don't really get credit," Booker's grandma Denise Long told the Loveland Daily Reporter-Herald.

I love this story because the Chihuahua is a hero yet we all know it wasnt trying to save anyone. Those dogs (having owned them/lived with them) have little man syndrome and have to face off against everything. You know the dog was just trying to act tough and took the hit. Now it will probably get an award or something crazy lol. Dan M.

LOL, its all in HOW a story is told. If a baby pit bull did that.. who ARE known to care for their humans, the story would say ..

child saved by rattle snake from pit bull.

ha ha ha

... and pits are super sweet, bad rap.. where as chihuahuas are nasty little things with a good rap..

GRRRRRRRRRRRRR *pulls out hair*

The article should read,

Child minding its own business-unattended by parent, watched as a local rattlesnake minding his own business, was visciously attacked by an unleashed and unattended dog.

It then should be followed by a story about how people release cats outside everyday unattended and they kill far more wildlife than any released exotic ever.

thanks

Agreed ben... agreed. If you live in an area where you know dangerous animals are.. you should take the proper precautions to prevent something like this happening in the first place
