Flexwatt question

When hooking 11" flexwatt up do you have to make your connection on one of the ends or can you hook up in the middle of the tape ? I know you have to hook 1 wire to each of the silver lines that run up both sides I am just wondering if I had say a 6' piece of tape can I make my connections at the 3' mark ?

I'm more curious about why you would want to....

I'm building an incubator I want the flexwatt to run across the bottom and 1 foot up each side I am going to have my T-stat mounted in the center on top of the cabinet on the outside with all my leads and wires running down the center post of the cabinet between the 2 doors. If I hook to 1 of the ends I have to run the wire back down the 1 side and across the bottom to the center post then back up to my t-stat outlet, If I can make the connections in the middle it will require a much shorter plug and a lot less wire
