A very small insect within my logs...

Hello all,

Here is a very tiny coleoptera which was present with several others within my logs (October 30th, 2009 - Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada near Vermont).

Any idea about its id???

Thank you very much in advance,

Michel

I'm inclined to say Hylesinus aculeatus, Eastern Ash Beetle. But then again, it could be Hylesinus criddlei (Northern Ash). I really can't tell the difference between the two

Hello Laura,

Thank you very much for your so appreciated help! It then will be Hylesinus sp. because as you mentionned, it could be H. aculeatus or H. criddlei and only a microscopic examination can point the good one.

Cheers!

Michel
