should i use a heating pad or not?

i was wondering befor i buy a beardie if i should use a heating pad?

If you have proper cage set-up with light for basking, a heat pad is unnecessary and potentially dangerous to the lizard.

No, undertank heating pads aren't necessary for Beardies unless your ambiant room temp drops below 60 degrees F. ( which is doubtful)
My home is around 68 in the coldest of winter and averages 70-76 degrees throughout the year.

Beardies use their third eye on the top of their heads to access temps so a heat source coming from below them is potentially dangerous.


All those pet product manufacturers that show the undertank heaters with Beardies on the package should have their rear ends fryed for misrepresentation of appropriate care of the species.

As mentioned, No, beardies have no sense on there belly's, they will sit there till they die. Jeff
